Project Mapleseed Rimfire Event April 14th- FRPC Kingston

Hey,

My Daughter really wants to go and try this! She's 9 and currently has a savage Rascal single shot that fits her well. The smallest Semi Auto that I have that has a 7 shot removable magazine is an old Mossberg 352. The thing is that it has a LOP that makes it a bit too long and clumsy. Will they be shooting off of a rest or are they required to hold the rifle by themselves? If they have to be able to hold it themselves, would she be allowed to use her single shot that she can hold properly?

For a 9 year old, the best rifle would be the Rascal. It has the proper LOP and from a safety point of view it is more manageable for someone of that age.If we have youth on the line and it is not a dedicated youth event the child will have an instructor that works with them. They do not generally go through the course of fire but learn the same material as the adults, we just add some fun targets and reactive targets as well. Hope this helps. And if your daughter is coming we encourage you try it out as well.

I'm curious is the $70.00 for a one day class. How many hours of instruction vs range time.
Thanks for your time.

It is a one day event, instruction is in the moring. We shoot through the day and the afternoon is spent shooting the qualifying test. The course is $50 and the range fee for the day is $20. LMK if you have any more questions (kelly@mapleseedrifleman.com)

So, I know it sys rain or shine, but there is supposed to be an ice storm coming for sat/sun with high winds! :(

Would it still go on if the weather turns out to be crazy like that? I hope they're wrong! My daughter will be devastated!!!

I have signed myself and my 10 year old daughter up for the London clinic,
She has a cricket single shot but what I was wondering is if I should get her onto a repeater to help speed things up a bit?
Also I’m wondering about the outline for the day. Do we bring lunch and snacks or are we given a break that we can leave and go grab something to eat?
Also how much ammo should we be bringing with us?
My daughter is also super excited for this event!

Attention: The FRPC Event this Saturday, 14 April 18, is now cancelled due to extreme weather alerts. Safety comes first and we don't want anyone hurt travelling to/from the event or being subjected to extreme weather conditions during the event. We will be working with FRPC and our instructors to arrange another event at FRPC in the near future. We will be issuing a refund to those who signed up. We will be posting an event date once we confirm the range.

Thanks for your continued support and understanding.

That’s so sad to hear, but being a Match Director tough decisions have to be made. This really is a great event for not only the younger and newer shooters but the community in general. It’s such a great initiative, win-win...what’s not to like?

Here’s to future events with the Mapleseed Crew!

Cheers, Barney
