OK, so I have $400.00 to spend and I want to buy a nice shottie that I can use as a base to build a cool tactical type gun to use for defence in the bush. I was thinking a 12 ga. 870 Express 18. I want to put a sling and mag extension on right off the bat. Can I do it for $400? Where is the best place to get parts in southern AB? Is there a better gun I could start with in the same price range? And no Chinese stuff:runaway: not that the product is inferiour, just personal choice.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks

From the replies I've received from my posts, the 870 seems to be hard to beat! W.S.S. in Cgy has them for $359 on sale in a 12 gauge 23" barrel .
I never asked about an 18" bbl for the Rem. You can always go the Mossberg route?

For 437 you can get a remington 870 express with a +2 shot factory extension and nice synthetic stocks.

What you do go go to Wholesale in Lethbridge and request an 870 Express with a mag extension. You puchase sling at the same time. The Lethbridge location usually has a selection of Tac-Star mag extensions and asst. gizmos as well. Try to avoid The Outdoorsman, you will be gouged or ignored, although in a very friendly way

870 clones

Maybe you'd be well advised to have a look at the Rem 870 Norinco clones Marstar is selling at great prices.

Some guys on the boards here are reporting very good results and some say the quality and functioning is as good, if not better than the Remington 870 Express currently available.
They even sell a 14" factory made barrel.

Don't anyone sell him a pistol , he will call it a PISSY.

I have a pistol thank you, a S&W M&P 9mm.

BEARMAN, is'nt "BEAR" a term for a hairy homosexual man?:p

I'll call a shotgun what ever I want. It's a free country, for the most part:)

Minus the Wilson +1 extension, this Norinco costs only $390 including taxes and delivery to BC.

It functions flawlessly.

How does the 14" vs. 18.5" barrel compare?

I know the 14" will be much better for close quarters, but what are some of the pros and cons of the different barrel lengths?
