If anyone else wants to attempt a similar project, I've got a spare M-14 buttplate over here. PM if you 're interested.

Edit -- One member has taken the buttplate for his project.

Thats one hell of a nice little plinker!!! Good work!! I only wish I could afford the time to toy around with reshaping stocks... Ill be keeping an eye for the updated photos after you `glass it

That's amazing, I didn't realize how close I was to that gun! I'm getting that quadrail ordered tonight, have a synthetic stock that will work nice for such a project!!
Thanks for the excellent photos and an inspiring idea!
You really did an amazing job there, you should be proud of that!!

Looks good but just one question. Don't you find the Magpul AFG a little far forward to be useful or are you a big guy? I fiddled around a bit with a stock I have here and for me that is way to far forward to be used. And what is you finished length, with and without the can on it?

im 5'10 average build .that AFG might be a notch too far forward for comfort but i see videos of guys doing competitive rifle shooting run their grip as far forwards as the gun allows for stability .i found that my support arm would naturally pull the gun back to the shoulder and locks it in with this set up, so im gonna try that out. that AFG is a loaner from a friend so it cost me nothing and when i get the chance to actually shoot this thing, i'll find out how it works . this grip position feels solid so far.

Interesting video, I will be out back today trying that style with my Tactical 22. I am quite sure I won't like it but I am going to give it a try:D. I did see quite a few shooters holding their guns right in front of the magazine and behind their AFG's and vert handles also. Kim

WoW! Quit your day job! You will make a lot money building these - just amazing work - well done and thanks for sharing.....
