I just purchased my Uberti 1873 .45 Colt SAA. (New manufactured gun)

I am looking to buy my reloading supplies and need to know what bullet diameters you guys are using. (I know slug the barrel right) But in all honesty I will NOT be casting bullets so I figure my choices are limited to what is available from the major manufactures.

From what I have gathered I should be using .452 in cast/plated bullets or .451 in jacketed.

Any thoughts?

Nick

I own an Uberti in 45 COLT cast at 452 is perfect . The 250 grain cast shoots beautifully as does the 200 grain. The 200 drops a little low at 25 yards. Using Win231 or Titegroup with WIN Large pistol primers. Cast bullets from Bullet Barn.

I cast 230 grain round nose (.452") using hard lead and they work well for .45 Colt and .45ACP,congrats on the 1873 Uberti they are nice guns.

Slug the barrel and check the diameter of the six throats on the cylinder. If any are smaller than the 0.452" bullets you'll likely use, they should be opened up to about 0.453" and all made the same size.

Perhaps your Uberti is already properly sized, but some makes have been known to have cylinder throats as samll as 0.448".
