I've handled the promag version of the arms 18 but have never used one on one of my rifles. I've been given an opportunity to add them to my accessory list and am wondering how they have stood up for those who are and have used them. I have upgraded a couple for customer's rifles by replacing the side bolt with a genuine arms (10.00 upgrade) and other than lack of markings, they are steel and appear to be very well made, fitting the rifle perfectly.
Seen as they are very reasonably priced at the retail level ..... worth bringing in a bunch? Looking for feedback mainly, not really looking for "buyer interest" at this point.

so.... no one is running a promag mount??

well..... guess I won't look into bringing in a bunch of them. I know you guys will all go nuts if and when i start offering thier m14 stock along with my own....... but a arms 18 style mount for much less than an arms........ thought folks might be interested.
if you have one, would like to here from ya.

On a differant note, my gas cylinder from 7.62mm came in today. One week form order to my door. They say no problem shipping to Canada, just not bolts or receivers.

I know..... cool eh?
am going to be getting all my import paperwork in order at some point in the future. I am hoping to launch my website much sooner than i had anticipated, mainly due to so many folks asking me for weblinks to my work. I am also hoping to add accessories related to the M14 family of rifles, from various manufacturers as options on builds or simply for retail. However we all know my personal hurdles with organizing so i do not leave folks hanging...... something i think i've got the handle on but am going to be restructuring things over my holiday time so that when I launch the site I will be able to keep up.

so how about those promag mounts hehehehe guess not many folks have used them yet. ???? seem quite popular in the states

I am interested in BUYING one, but I don`t have one yet...
I am also interested in hearing how well they have worked (although I have heard good things in the past...)

I refrained from posting the slathering fanboy *WANT!* post, because you were looking for feedback from owners... well, not an owner yet, but do want! ;)

Matt

try $85.00 in the U.S. I have mounted a couple, they are softer than the ARMS A18, and use a set screw instead of a dovetailed piece and screw. I use one on my rifle, but if they are $150.00 up here I would buy the ARMS, they are around $200.00.

no idea what they will cost or retail for.
was more or less wondering if they work for the guys that are or have used them
the ones i upgraded for clients appeared to have all the same features as the arms, including the dovetail keeper but had a torx type side bolt..... which i replaced with an arms 18 bolt with zero issue. I did do a full comparison between those mounts i upgraded and the arms 18 mounts i have here.... seemed almost the same.

Weird, the mount on promag's website lists it for $146.25

Also, where are you guys finding ARMS 18 mounts for sale? I was under the impression that these were made of unobtanium, like all M-14 parts these days...

I know that is the MSR but the street price is less just look at the american m14 boards

Right now list for 98.00 in the USA at Midway even at 150.00 ish it is the best of the cheap mounts and it has the cool factor built in.

Hmmm. Just goes to show you how over-priced a lot of firearms accessories are, especially for the M-14.

Thanks for the tip!

I just got a Promag Arms 18 style mount from a CGN member and it fit perfect on my M305 appears to be solid and tight. I won't get a chance to fire and sight in the gun til the 26th and 27th but I'll but 200-400 rounds throught it that weekend.

M14 Doc on another note the first session with a brand new M305 I think it was you who said that you should use grease and not oil? If so do you have any preferences on what brand to use. Appreciate any input.

Any cheap generic grease from canadian tire will do. I use the blue marine grease... comes in a yellow tube and will probably last about ten years.

yup , what he said.

my preference is Super Lube clear synthetic grease, i get it in tubs at lordco. But as I <3 M14 says, any grease will do.
OIL is ONLY used for protective coating, wiping down after cleaning, ect.... this is why it was provided in the butt of the rifle in a bottle, so the soldier could wipe his weapon to prevent rusting in the field ;)
gas cylinder and piston..... dry, no lubricants at all, ever
bolt internals/firing pin...... dry, no lubricants at all, ever
grease trigger.oprod track , oprod tab and bolt roller recess, very lightly grease oprod tube if desired, grease bolt lug bearing faces, receiver's lug raceway ect ect.....
in very cold weather, like - 10 and under, I'm finding less grease is better. I also really like the performance of the super lube in the winter temps in my area (- 10 to - 40)
