Which is better for 10/22 ?
I am looking at the 25 rd mags with the sleeve (Promag), as far as I can tell these have plastic feed lips , seems like a bad idea to me
Battledyne has all metal feed area and is good looking -less bannana shaped , but seems to have gaps between mag and stock
I have one of the Promag , Archangel mags that came with my SR22 (used) , it looks to be worn out in the feed ramps and does all types of missfeeds
I am going to buy 3 new mags and wonder which are best feeding and/or lasting of the fake AR type mags

I think the shine of having a good looking mag (and I admit, the BD look great) would soon wear off after repeated malfunctions etc.

I keep an AR style mag and a Pro Mag around for photos, but for range work, its the butler creek, GSG, and BX10 that feed the ruger.

X2 I have done some filing on the battle dyne mags and they are better but no way near as good as my Butler creek 25 shot mags.

I haven't had very good luck with my battledynes. To be fair I haven't had much time out with them, but I spent a night tweaking one of the mags to see if I can get it to function better. They wobble a lot, so I wrapped some electrical tape around and now it is very snug. I also filed the top of the metal lip, it no longer has grinding sensation when I rack the bolt back and forth with the mag inserted.

I'll report after this weekend if the tape and filing helps.

Have you checked out these ?

Makes loading mags a breeze you can put 20 rounds in off a stripper in like 5 seconds no more top feeding single round after round. If you want to do that you can use your finger to take tension off the spring so just slide the .22 rounds in no more ripped up fingers fumbling with those little buggers. Bought me one of these and couldn't be happier. Instead of carrying magazines you just carry the strips with 20 rounds they have a cap to hold the rounds on.

I tried the HC3R mags and they work great.....except they're a pain in the ass to load using the clips. unless I'm magazine challenged or something but I always end up just loading them the normal way. just as fast and no fumbling with the clips.

I would just prefer they make them without the loading clips and side storage, then they would be perfect

Oh how so ? You push the strip down and pull the top towards you and they come out easy, They have a tab thingy on the bottom that it sits in that goes down when you push. When I first got it I tried pulling the strip out but it didn't come out till I figured out the right way was pushing in and down and pulling the top out. With that speed loader box you just drop a handful of rounds in and shake it a bit most of the rounds fall bullet down into the slot you just pop the rest that didnt drop into the slots once they are all sitting with the bottom facing up you just slide the strip over the bottoms. There are a couple youtube videos for the magazine and for the speed loader when I saw those I was like wow i'm getting me one of those. I would say that system cuts loading mag time spent by a good 80% only down side was you spend way more time actually shooting you burn through your ammo much faster lol

somehow I got a round stuck in the feed lips a couple of times and couldn't get it out and had to use a knife. I have a hard time getting the clip to snap into place when loading with it. and the spring tabs sometimes releases and snaps back up

like I said, I'm magazine challenged.....but it sounds like a great job for the wife and kids in their down time. lol
