Anybody have info on hunting outfitters in Alberta and or personel experiences there hunting Pronghorn Antelope.

I would like to book a hunt there but don't know the area and outfitters.

Thanks
Carl

deerguy if you are going after antelope the place to go is Wyoming. They have the most antelope, maybe not the biggest but certainly as good as anything in Alberta.

Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona are also good. I suppose Montana is good too.

IMHO I'd look at one of those places before Alberta.

You can do Wyoming for ~$2500 give or take... an antelope hunt is about the cheapest guided hunt there is.

I had the name of an outfitter and lost track of it but I'd say a google search of antelope hunting outfits would get you started! ;)

Carl, have you been building your hunting priority in the Alta draw system?

You wouldn't really need to get a "guide" if you can find someone who will do a "hunter host", being a person who takes a non-resident hunting that does not get a financial gain from the adventure. Downside is the wait for the draw system where you only wait for a booking with an official guide.

I might know of a guy who would guide you, let me try to scrounge up his contact info.

Sage Outfitters Is the one to go with Billy Franklin is the owner operater I can find his number for you if you are interested.

I agree on the Silver Sage Outfitters and Billy Franklin for a guided hunt....those guys kill some big bucks and they hunt some good country. I am fortunate to live in the heart of antelope country and get to see bucks every day on the way to work and sometimes from the house.....
I've seen some of the bucks they killed last year and there were some giants....

if you pack a 7mm the long shots also shouldnt be a problem

 Someone should have told my wife's buck she was only shooting it with a 6mm so it could have ignored the fact it's heart was missing and it could continue on it's way.:)

Jason Martyn might take guy's out for Antelope. He guides for most everything else including the entertaining cat hunt Nugget drug me along for back in January. Jason is a very hard working outfitter and his goal to to always have a satisfied customer. I believe he got the #5 B&C Archery Buck a couple years ago, it is a cranker!

Here is his email is you want to see if he'd be able to take you.
Jason Martyn (martyn6@telusplanet.net) Just loose the brackets.;)

Yeah Noel, that would be the mighty moose_hunter, age somewhere south of legal drinking age, who has a lot to say (like a lot of kids), and lots of enthusiasm (like lots of kids), but just MAYBE not a heck of a lot of real experience. He would be the same guy asking to buy guns in the EE forums but is years out from getting a PAL.........

Hell, he is even younger than YOU! ;-)

I am going to bet if you took a poll of serious antelope hunters that the number who use a 7 mag is less than 5 percent........too much gun for a small animal............

Doug

PS) Harummppphhhhh, kids these days, don't respect their elders.....

Don't worry Douglas, I was always very aware of how to respect my elders, or face the concequence of a swift hand!
I guess it's good that he has an opinion to share, hopefully we are patient enough to lead, and he patient enough to listen to experience.
Boy, I'm talking like a crusty old guy now, eh!? :)
