Try a Sightron S3 series scope. I have a 6-24x50 and looking through it and my Nightforce 5.5-22x56 back to back the optical quality is pretty close, you almost can't tell the difference other than the NF has a slightly wider FOV. The Sightron is a lot lighter though.
Jerry at Mystic sold me mine and the service was awesome.
I had a 8-32 SIII on it for a while, nothing better for accuracy with that tiny dot, but for coyotes in low light it sucked. I'm not a fan of scopes with the illumination switch/battery on the eye piece, they always knock my ball cap off LOL. I would say the glass on the sightron is an improvement over the NF, but the zero stop, HS turrets, illumination that isn't obtrusive, and built like an absolute tank, I took off the sightron for the NF. The G7 scope is perfect for hunting, I don't need a 56mm opjective, the windage is capped (which I prefer for the hunting I do), and the reticle is decent. If I had the cash, I would try a March 3-24 x 42mm, and they have a new 52mm version out now. Seems to be the ultimate combination - Leupold weight, NF quality, and S&B level glass. Only problem is the illuminated version is worth 2-3 new sightrons...
The other notable mention that these barrels produce a little more mirage when hot due to the heat leaving the carbon.
