Just wondering if anyone has had to show their Registration Certificate to a LE officer or range official etc. to prove that it's a Non-Restricted firearm?

don't have one in front of me but IIRC the certificates don't show the firearm class. Just action type etc and barrel length over or under 470mm. Just has a CX4 rebarrelled to non-restricted length and the only difference is in the barrel length statement. So to "prove" it's non-restricted to an LEO who may not be familiar with the law the certificate may not be enough - a follow-up call to CFC may be required.

I don't have the Registration Certificate yet but the Transfer Notification has the Class (Non-Restricted) written on it...

No, they do show the class. Third field down on the left side.

Is there not restricted ones as well? I see it's an option on CanAm...

I made a copy of my registration, laminated it with packing tape, and stuck it in the little cubby hole in the butt stock. This way I always have proof of the firearm class if some over zealous horse cop goes on a fishing expedition.

Luckily the local mounties are aware I'm smarter than them when it comes to firearms so they generally take my word for it.

So you've been asked before? Just wondering as most of the LE I've dealt with aren't too knowledgeable about such things...

I have not been asked with my Tavor, but I was given an attempted lecture years ago with my AR180B, gun rack, having a gun at night, etc. After a polite lesson on the transport laws, the local officer has never bothered me as she knows I'm far more knowledgable than her on firearms laws.

I was pulled over one day in November, around 3:00AM, 20 feet from my house. The Tavor was laying across the front seat in plain view. Amongst other standard questions, I was simply asked if I was out hunting. I replied no and nothing more was said about it. In my small town you will almost always get pulled over at 3:00 AM as there are usually only two things you can be up too. Coming from or going to work, and drunk driving.

Living in a small town sure has it's advantages including the police knowing who is and who isn't a bad guy! Will certainly do like you with my Reg Cert and put it in the butt of my Tavor. Thanks.

Due to the fact I will take firearms on spur of the moment shooting trips, I try to have the registration with the firearm so its one less thing to worry about.

Is there a version or conversion of the Tavor available in something a little bigger than .223? Something a little more moose friendly like .308 or 7mm?

That's what I do with the cert for my AR. I also keep a copy of my LTATT in there with it in a Ziploc bag. It can be a tight fit, but then it's always with the firearm, just like the law requires for transport.

the range i go to is frequently used by the rcmp, the only issues i have had is them wanting to know what kind of rifle it is and if they could try it
