Curious if any of you guys have shot the proof pxt barrels yet. And if so, how are they shooting so far.

Decided to buy one today, current prices of Bartlein etc considered it was’t that much more of an upcharge. And given the current tarrifs, Us made barrels won’t get any cheaper.

Not interested to hear your opinion if you haven’t shot one. And don’t want to turn this into one of the “gain twist barrels have been around for 3000years, it’s old tech” threads.

Will send it up to Corlanes in Dawson Creek. Don't cut off the muzzle end LOL
  • Oversized Bore: The bore dimensions differ from traditional barrels, often requiring oversized reamer bushings or rigid setup to prevent reamer wobble or chatter.
  • Witness Line & Crown Requirements: Proof Research mandates strict machining specifications for the muzzle crown relative to a factory witness line, requiring precise compliance to maintain structural and accuracy integrity.

Thats Interesting ;)

I've got a 1-7 .224 in .22 ARC on a rifle, I've got about 130 rounds out of it. Contrary to the post about the oversize bore, mine was tight AF, requiring a .2175 pilot.

I haven't put any effort into load development yet as it's just broken in. It fouled like crazy for the first 30 rounds, and slowly got back to normal. Factory ammo and handloads are slower compared to the same length IBI barrel with identical charges, both barrels cut with the same reamer.

I haven't formed an opinion on the PXT yet, as my round count is low. With regards to the cut length, they specifically say you have to be within +/-.100" of their mark for the twist to be accurate.
