Proof Research rifles — who imports them?

I’m looking for a Proof Research "Summit" rifle in .300 WSM. Does anybody know if any Canadian dealers stock this brand of rifles? I know there’s dealers that sell their carbon fiber wrapped barrels, but I don’t see the rifles listed on their websites.

I’m looking into importing one from US as well but right now I’d rather exhaust my Canadian options, if any exist.

Don't know of any canadian importers, you may have to contact prophet river or irunguns to get one this side of the border, though it's not gonna be cheap, with our dollar being so low right now, you may want to give the dealers that sell their barrels a ring and see if they maybe have some stock.

I thought maybe they were related to magnum research, but it looks like they're a different entity.

Talk to Rick, the owner at Alberta Tactical Rifle Supplies. He is a pretty big importer of Proof Research carbon fiber barrels for his Modern Hunters & Varminters.

I spoke to Rick last summer after posting this topic. Then I called Proof Research and got a quote. Either way it was the just over $10K.

Unfortunately that is what happens when you turn a $7000.00 USD rifle into Canadian pesos at a 30% exchange rate. It becomes a $10K rifle.
We can get Proof rifles but but until the exchange rate changes significantly they will be like ALL USA made products, expensive in Canada.

Agree ^
That's the same conclusion we came to last summer. Exchange just ruins everything. I'll be purchasing thought once things even out a bit I think. As for now I'll stick to my less expensive imported toys :)

That's still close to $9K or so after tax and import. But good find and a better price. I wonder why it's cheaper from when I called PR though!? Probably cause on the phone they told me they had better/custom actions that weren't listed on their site. That upped the price significantly. I'd have to find and go through my notes to see exactly what the differences were.

You still have to pay tax on the rifle incoming.
I'm lost on the tax. I bought a scope from an American dealer. $600 US . $780 was charged to my CC.

Are you referring to the taxes that the company (Prophet River) has to charge ? GST?

If CBSA didn't charge you taxes then you're lucky. Very lucky. If you buy a rifle or other import restricted items you have to import it legally either via a third party (Prophet River, IRG, etc), in which case you have to pay taxes on the declared value.

If you import via Prophet River you pay 5% tax. So a. $7000 USD rifle quickly becomes around $10K CAD :(

I've imported a bunch of rifles. It ain't cheap.
