I now have my hands on a Pietta brass framed .36 1851 Navy repro and I REALLY need to shoot this thing. I am a bit confused about the proper load though. The Pietta manual that I found online says 9-12 grains but the Lyman Blackpowder manual that I have lists a max load of 25 grains under a RB.
Other websites say 15-20 grains. What should I start with and what would be a reasonable "everyday" load for slaying tin cans and punching paper?
I will use Pryodex "P" to start because I am unable to get any holy black anywhere around here and that may have to wait for a bit.
Any direction here would be most helpful.
