Properway to cut barrel .

As the title suggests. I have heard of pipe cutters better working then a hack saw.
Any input or experience that you have would be great! .
 
I wouldn't DREAM of cutting a rifle barrel with a pipe cutter. You'd probably wear the cutter out before you were done :) A hacksaw would do the trick if ou could be certain that you could cut the face perfectly straight an perpindicular to the bore (which you really can't). If it was me, i'd get it close wth the hacksaw (not too close), then clean it up and recrown with a lathe.
 
I have personally used the pipe cutter on a 12gauge and 9mm shotgun the job was done easily,on a rifle you can at least use the pipe cutter to create a slot as deep as possible to drive for the hack saw.
 
I used a chopsaw on my old double barrel then used a table belt sander to get it smooth and even. Then I used a fine file in both barrels to clean it up.
 
I used a hacksaw and it worked fine (make sure you cut straight ) , finished up with a round file on the inside of the muzzle and used a flat file on the outside.I used a little liquid blueing on the end of the barrrel after to finish it .
 
If you use a hacksaw put a hose clamp around the BBL then the blade will track against the clamp leave the hose clamp on take a block of wood with emery cloth and clean up the cut.

That is a good idea but the trick to making a straight cut with a hacksaw is to use the full lengh of the blade and light pressure. In other words full strokes........
