pros and cons of an AR chambered in 7.62x39

So this is the reply from Windham regarding bore size:

On the 7.62x39 our Bore spec is .300 to .301 and the Groove is .310-.311 ... which matches SAAMI and exceeds their normal .002 tolerance window

Guess that makes it a good go for surplus ammo?

Why would they sell a rifle chambered in 7.62x39 that doesn't shoot surplus ammunition?

More info on x39 bolt heads.

The reply I got from Windham:
Our 7.62x39 bolts are the same as a 5.56 bolt except the bolt face is bigger for the bigger cartridge, and the tail is a few thousandths shorter for more firing pin protrusion.
We have not suffered any broken bolts at this point.
The extractor is specific to 7.62x39 and is not the same as the 5.56 extractor

So this leads me to believe that webbing on the above bolt may fail like in other attempts to make a x39 AR15.
See here for pics, notice the thinner walls on the x39 bolt heads and failure points:

The NEA x39 bolt head seems to address the issue. Go to about 2:30 in the link and you'll see the bolt design:

Perhaps the NEA bolts may be the best yet for the x39 AR15?

Thought I read somewhere that the Ruger mini 30 was a .308 bore, to accomodate the american standard. though I don't suppose that one would want to shoot corrosive in one of those.

Doesn't hurt to not assume, in any case.

Has anyone run cheep non corrosive ammo ie norinco, through their 7.62x39 AR? Talking to someone today who said they would run Russian but not Chinese, is the quality that much worse?

Did they state the reason for their 'No Chinese' policy....hhmmmm that sounds politically incorrect, eh?:p

I've used x39 Russian, Czech, and Norc (and several other calibres over many years) and never had a problem with any.
The Chinese ammo has always been good.

That said, I plan to use all the above in whatever x39 AR I acquire.

Yup, I have. It didnt group as well as Eastern Block ammo, but it went bang just fine.
