pros and cons of useing 7.62 x 51 in a 308

European or American? Perhaps in Europe they realize they are really the same thing even though many North Americans have an unfounded fear of mixing the two? If it's Chinese ammo I would assume it's just their short cutting things.

PMC. So South Korean. And one small correction, its says .308 WIN (7.62 NATO)

The Internet is amazing. Before it, we were issued several million rounds of DND Canadian and American made 7.62x51 to use as target rifle ammo in our rifles, many of which were chambered with a SAAMI minimum 308 chamber. Never had a problem or even considered a potential problem. When the rules changed, we supplied our own 308 ammo. Again, no problems.

I have a case headspace tool and routinely measure unfired rounds to get an idea of their length. I have 25+ 308 and 7.62 rifles with headspace ranging from -1 to +8 thou, so am interested in the length of the ammo.

In 20 years of monitoring, the biggest spread I have seen in virgin 308 and 7.62 ammo is about 4 thou. That is insignificant.

And, as i said before, they two flavours are loaded to the same pressure limits, with the occasional lot around 60,000 psi but most between 52,000 and 56,000.
