I bought a 1886 Winchester on the weekend. It came with a box of ammo in .33 Winchester. It appears to be a mixed lot of factory loads in WRA, Rem/UMC, and DO Co. 4 of the Winchester have protected primers. This is the first time I've seen one and most of the people I've talked to have never heard of them either. The primers are larger than the standard large rifle primers with a smaller primer recessed in the centre. Three have what looks like a copper centre and one has a white centre. Sorry, no photos. Can anyone give me any more info on these primers? Value?
