I had the very gratifying experience of witnessing my apprentice Jerome kill his first deer this season. Not so much because he learned well, worked hard, was attentive, respectful, enthusiastic and safe, but when he approached his first ever deer, his first action was not to boast but to place a hand on it and say "thank you deer". He will be the kind of hunter that I'm proud to call a friend.

Congrats to both of you, always warms my heart when I learn of younger ones getting into the sport, even better to find out that they have a great attitude right from go.

Congrats to both of you. Respect and graditude for wildlife is a great value.

Congrats to you and to him. He sure is a happy hunter. You must be quite proud of him. Thanks for getting another young one into the sport.

You know you just can't stop at one?

Agreed! I've been teaching the Hunter Education & firearms Safety courses for more than 30 years. This fine young man is only the latest graduate apprentice! It is very satisfying to pass on the tradition and values of ethical hunting, I hope my little story encourages more mentors.

Good on both of you! Thank you for mentoring another generation of hunters and congrats to the young man on his first successful hunt. May it be the first of many!
