Province tearing up Metis hunting deal!!

The fact that the treaties were written 100 years ago should not be an issue; they were given open ended terms, as long as the rivers flowed and the wind blew. The big difference between Canada and the US is that we are historically a nation of law. In Canada, we do not unilaterally abrogate treaties. A contract is a contract. In the US, EVERY treaty was eventually rescinded by their federal government due to "changed circumstances".

Today's situation will never be solved by those who advocate simplistic "solutions" for complex problems. Welfatre is not the answer, but neither is nullifying legal agreements. You cannot choose to ignor what has happened in between. I do not pretend to have the answers, but grow tired of those who insist on flaunting both a lack of insight and even the current poor level of common sense.

People here are confusing the Metis with the treaty natives. To my knowledge, the same treaties giving special rights based on race were not signed with the Metis.

Well, to be Frank, we damned the rivers, so they don't really flow on their own. And we build windbreakers, so there goes that too. Let's revok all rights based on that notion. :D

As for lack of common sense, how is it common sense to watch one of them pull up in a truck, grab their LOADED 30-30 from the vehicle and drop three mule deer does at once? Is that common sense, or a violation of our laws that do not apply to them?

What's so wrong about metis hunting rights??? Just restrict them to using a musket and a buffalo runner poney as it was done in the traditional way!

we're just mad because we can't shoot something anytime we want

:bsFlag: I don't want the same rights that they have, I want them to have the same rights that we have. The right to go and get an education, then a job and contribute to society in the same way that I do.
