Provincial Championships Fees

Good response Sheldon.

I for one am familiar with all of the costs that go into putting on a match. As you know, I was on the IPSC Nationals planning committee for the last year and a half.

I can tell you that IF you are lucky you might just break even once all of the expenses are in. Of course, that does not include the free labour that the small army of volunteers put in, let alone their personal expenses for fuel to and from the range countless times. I know that DVC1911 alone has logged about $400 of fuel expenses to and from the range as an example. I'm lucky though as I have a company vehicle and all my fuel is paid for, but not for the others that helped out.

I can't fathom that an extra $15.00 or so is such a hardship for most people who don't think twice buying that new shiny gun or buying the latest gadget, etc... Heck, $15.00 is a box and a half of reloaded ammo, give me a break! Face it people, this is not a cheap sport if you want to attend matches other than club matches.

While I'm at, it I want to also thank Sheldon and his son Spence for dragging his trailer down to Vancouver from P.G. a week in advance to help with set-up for the NATS and for supplying and building at his cost the dueling tree for the shoot-off.

Also, thanks in advance for the efforts that have and will go into putting on the Provincials in P.G. this year. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend due to some time-sensitive matters at work this year.

Good luck Sheldon with the Match.

Well, I remember getting complaints about the increase to a $150 match fee last year. We justified it with a larger percentage of the fee going towards the prize table.

Don't get me wrong, whatever the fee is, I'll pay it because I will always attend our Provincials. However, I heard a couple of complaints, so I thought I'd ask around to see what other sections pay.
