Provincials Primer match june 5th

Why not then have a match for only people who help then?

There are already many matches like this. Quebec Provincials and MIC, and this year's Canadian Nationals.
Personally, I don't like this policy (although I do comply when I want to shot the match), and it does affect my decision on whether to sign up for the match.
I'm happy that many match organizers can still arrange for required help without making working at match mandatory, and I hope this trend will prevail.

It's time

John you left the club in one HELL of a mess, when you decieded to resign.

Not only have you not done more than 4 matches, your opion does not matter.

Your acting as a child who can not get his own way.

If you have so much time to complain, why don't you get off your ASS and come out and HELP.

You seem to know so much about the sport your opion could be better used for constructive purposes, and not the BS your are spouting.

It's TIME to grow the F@#& up.

If you can not offer help, SHUT UP. We do not want your opion.

On another note...I've taken on a new infromal project for IPSC Ontario...to provide each and every member with a nick name...

Last week at EESA it was unanimously decided that Mr Hill will now be referred to as "corn bread" I'm happy to report the new handle is already catching on. Way to go Kent...err...I mean...Corn Bread.

I'm working on one for Rob...and Bobbie for that matter...but there's just so much material to go through (bee's, chicken, dogs that look like bears). I want to get it right.

In the meantime...since I never understood what the J is in your name...it spells out quite nicely as JR B

So I was thinking Junior B...or just Junior for short.

Ho hum...so much work...so little time

Regards
Quigley (who the hell gave me that name anyway)

Ok I will add my little note in here
I love and hate the on line sign up,it is a good idear and make it simple to add your name to a match every time I go on there to sign up for a match it is fully booked.
Waterloo I am still stitting on the waiting list, e-mail the match Dir and he replyed with "by wedesday I should be able to get you in.
Most of you know me on here, I work most of the matches out there, but sometimes I just want to shoot.
Waterloo was one of them I just wanted to shoot and I am still sitting here wandering if there is going to be a spot there for me.
Ok that my ##### over with.

hhmmmm...there was a bit of dirt on my screen...and I though you actually signed this post..."Olive". Eureka!!...that will be your new handle...

3 down...997 to go.

Hey Corn Bread...I may not be able to keep up. Since you're now in charge of the Black Badge program...any chance we can add that as the final requirement before they get the provisional card?

Russell, why all the hostility?
No love? Am I touching a nerve or two. Opinions promote discussion and trying to tell people shut the #### up does not help. That is what started this whole mess in the first place. Have we learned anything yet?;)
Disagree with me all you want. Show some intelligence and have an argument against me. I can handle that. I may even learn a thing or two. You sound like a champ telling me off.
If you look at IPSCmatches.net, I am helping as you can see. I am complying but I am also voicing my concern. You may not want my opinion, I can understand that but a few do.
If I grow up, I may become sour and mean like you. I might start telling people to shut the #### up as well. I want to hold off on that as long as possible.:D Also please use spell check. It may make you appear a little smarter.

Love You

I'm not very smart John.

People like you just don't get it.

All you do is complain, no actions.

So 1 final time, if you want help please do so, I for one would loved for you to have done the Provincials, but as allways some one else cleans up the mess of others.

Once again if you have something usful to say, do so, otherwise SHUT THE F@#$ UP

You started all this because you did not listen in the first place.

And remember that CHICKEN S@#% is hard t clean up. But again as I have done in the past, I will clean up with HELP, the mess.

Sorry Russel, this is not a construction site and you are not my Foreman. I will not STFU.

It may be so that I left Barrie in a mess, but this has nothing to do with me wanting to do the Provincials. You may be the type that gets easily confused but that is a whole other issue. The policy of work and shooting is not the same topic as the Provincials. You may not believe me but I wish that you and the crew, great success with the Provincials. In fact I know you will do a great job.
For the Last Time I Am Helping even though I do not agree with the policy.
As far as listening to you, I did. I just don't care for what you are saying because it is a one sided argument with you and when you don't come up with something good to counter its STFU. You go girl!:p

As far as being chicken ####, well anytime any place I would love to take the challenge with you in a yelling match. I have no hi blood pressure and we Italians have a lot of hot air.

By the way, Don't you IDPA guys have your own mess. Something to do with targets?

Lots of luck with the NRA BIANCHI CUP.
Have a great time love, and come back refreshed.
Love you!

John, I fully agree with you, this mandatory working policy sucks.

Not that anyone cares or will miss me, but I have chosen NOT to shoot a few matches because of this policy.

I have said it in the past - if you can't run a match without forcing people to work, then you should re-consider whether or not you should be trying to run a match.

I'll STFU now before this JR guy tells me too ...

I think Ontario is the only section that does not have a mandatory work requirement in place for there events. I have been shooting IPSC for 20 plus years, and from the first day on the range, everyone was told that they would have to work. Whether it be taping, being a range official, stats, etc.

When we go to an IPSC event it is a whole day affair, and everyone helps. We shoot half the day, and work the remaining half. We would never expect anyone to just "work the match" so we would have the opportunity to participate.

Let me guess, it the same people always working? I wonder how long that is going to last for, until everyone is burnt out, and then there will be no events.

I think there is a simpler solution for all this 'work-shoot' deal.
If a hosting range needs workers to RO, score keep or simply patch targets for the shooters, so the match flows, why we don't have different fees.
For example.
If a person decides to RO the whole match and shoot, should not be paying a penny and meal shall be provided.
If MD makes a match where they need someone to work, why they don't charge that person 50% less.
And at the end, if someone for whatever reason can not work and still wants to shoot, then that individual should pay at least 25% more.
Match fee for helping one squad and shooting LII - $25
Match fee just for shooting - $50

I think this makes perfect sense, at least to me. I have no time and need to shoot I pay more.

Since we're talking about it, let me confess. I'm an A.S.S. at most matches.

I wasn't always. Back when I started shooting IPSC, I used to arrive early to set up targets, and generally hung around until the bar got boring after the match. Then I took the RO course, and generally worked every match I shot. Since one certificate looked nice in the frame, I added a second and got my CRO. Then I'd work all weekend.

Then since I still had weeknights and the odd weekend free, I filled it up teaching the OHA/CSSA and CFSC programs.

Ten years later, I stopped and looked up. I remember the day. It was fall 1999, and my daughter was 2 months old. She had a heart defect and was a month away from her first open heart surgery. Lori kicked me out of the house for the day to shoot one of Mr. Cleans's Action Pistol matches at Sharon. I was on the 10am squad, and arrived maybe 15 minutes early. I met up with a few old friends and talked for a bit. The match was running late. I signed and numbered my targets. I sat there and checked my pager for what seemed like the 10th time.

I packed up my gear, spoke quickly with Mr.Clean, and left. I'd gotten myself into a near panic, being away from home. My reality had changed, and it only hit me in the car on the way home, desperately trying not to cry. I wasn't the same person who could spend the whole day at the range anymore. I had to manage my time more conservatively. I had a young family at home, and I couldn't simply leave my wife with the work while I buggered off to the range.

I took seven years off from active competition. I've got more free time these days, but it's still difficult to schedule matches around the kids schedule and my wifes work schedule.

I never mind working my squad. Patching, scoring, painting, etc is just part of the match. However, I quite often don't have the freedom to spend all day at the range.

I have no objection to ranges like Barrie and my own Sharon reserving spot for people who will be working the match. It just means that I will miss some of those matches.
