PRS chassis. What are my options

Hey guys,

Ive got a Rem 700 .308 20" HB that currently sits in a magpul Hunter chassis. Id like to upgrade to something a little nicer and have been thinking along the lines of MDT, Cadex and Magpul PRO.

What other options exist for higher end aluminum PRS chassis?

And sorry if this has been asked a million times before but I normally dont lurk, post in this sub forum.

For Remington 700 action, nothing beats the older Accuracy International Stage 2.0 chassis.
It was used to win competition, fight wars, comes with a folding stock (which facilitates bore cleaning), looks great and is indestructible.

I sold one years ago and still regret it. Currently I shoot with a Cadex Competition Strike which I find inferior for target shooting in many ways.
(my biggest gripe is that putting a different action in it takes more than 1 minute and that it feels really weak and shaky compared to older AI stocks)

The MDT ACC is arguably the best chassis out there these days for PRS. Nice flat bottom forend with integral RRS/arca dovetail, full m-lok compatibility, the ability to add both inner and outer weights up front and in the stock so as to up weight (for reduced recoil) and to get the rifle to balance just where you want it to. Conversely you can also replace the heavy steel butt assembly with an aluminium one and have a relatively lightweight chassis (I can dig up the weight with the Al butt if you'd like). Designed and manufactured in Canada and MDT is a huge supporter of precision rifle shooting/matches, can't go wrong.

I was just going to ask, are ACC that good. I was going to get one and build an Impact in 22 or 6mm Creedmoor. Thanks.
 
Stocks and chassis' are more of a user preference thing. My favorite is the JAE chassis, which at some point MDT is supposed to bring out again.

MDT ACC, MPA are some of the more popular ones. The XLR chassis with the JV competition package seems cool, though I hate that it's a buffer tube butt stock.

Out of all the currently produced chassis', I would probably lean towards the MDT ACC for PRS. Rugbydave makes some excellent points that I don't feel like reiterating.
 
KRG makes a few too. Probably lots of personal preference involved picking the right chassis as well. Personally I'm not a chassis fan at all, some of my friends love them. If you can get them in hand before buying you'll save yourself the "what if" questions down the road.
 
the ACC is the gamiest chassis on the market right now.

Not just because of the comprehensive weight system, but for me more because of the long flat forend that starts right at the magazine well, allowing you to get on any sort of prop or barricade and be on the rifles balance point. the continuous arca rail also allows you to quickly move your bipod anywhere you need.

The KRG Whisky 3 competition chassis is full aluminum and I completely forgot about that one. Looks like a super nice chassis, and one I would probably pick over others if I didn't have JAE.
 
As most have said, you'll have a hard time beating the MDT ACC right now for competitive use. There are a lot of good options out there and you really have to determine what you're after :) The ACC with the weight kit(s) can be expensive, but you could always build an LSS-XL Gen2 with the external and buttstock weights to get you going!
 
I really like both the mdt was and acc. Acc is more prs friendly with the one piece flat fore end.

I've got an ESS (used to have 2) and have used that chassis extensively in competitions. It's a great chassis but it's not purpose-built for PRS/NRL type competition, the ACC is a superior tool for that particular use. The ESS is more modular than the ACC in that you can choose whatever length and type of handguard you want (I'm currently changing mine from a 15" with no rail to a 15" full rail for instance). The ACC on the other hand lets you tailor the balance point and the weight of the system to your preference and the long, flat forend lends itself better to shooting off support bags. At the end of the day it really depends on how important having a system optimized for PRS/NRL is to you or if you want a more customizable system but that's more of a "general use" precision rifle chassis.

Yup, I've got an ESS and an ACC and I love both, I prefer my ACC for PRS stuff I do (which hasn't been a lot was gonna shoot down in the states this year.) And I've shot the ESS in PRS style matches as well. ESS is capable of doing but the ACC is purpose-built for it. If you want a great all-around chassis the ESS is such a good way to go. If you want a purpose-built machine the ACC is the way to go!

I like the cut of your jib. I think im gonna go with the ESS. Now i just gotta come up with some funds. lol
