PRS Match CDTSA Milo Range

Few notes from yesterdays range visit and testing:

- Some stages have been tweaked after some trial runs. Target size and duration were modified depending on difficulty and the likely chance of variable weather. For those not familiar with Milo, the range can be windy. Generally consistent, but with higher speeds. Temps can be cool or extremely hot. Bring food, water, shade (if not on the shooting line), and seating.

- An estimation at the moment on MINIMUM rounds is 70. We suggest bringing 100-120.

- Many stages, even if unlimited rounds are allowed, will be time limited by most bolt action shooters. Semi's might run a slightly higher round count on these stages.

- Some stages may be finished by competent competitors

- Some stages will be difficult to finish by the majority of competitors.

- We hope to find a middle ground somewhere that competitors are happy with the challenge presented, but also enjoyed at the same time.

- Stages for this second CDTSA PRS match are designed to have more movement, more challenge shooting off barricades, and more support side shooting. The stages have no bench, precision, or freehand shooting.

- As mentioned earlier, running and weight lifting while on a timed stage is required for most, if not all stages.

- Only Range 2 will be used. (500m total distance).

- Due to issues in scoring, sighting, and general progression, only one competitor will be shooting at a time. To improve efficiency, competitors "on deck" will be need to be set-up and ready to start immediately after range has been cleared and brass retrieval has been completed. As always, directions from RO's must be followed by everybody.

- COF will be provided the morning of the shoot.

- SAFETY: ** This needs to be VERY clear **

Movement for BOLT ACTION:

- Bolt must be back, and magazine dropped. No rounds remaining in chamber.
- Only one exception, and RO's will be extremely explicit with this: if a round has been discharge AND the bolt has not been cycled or lifted, the competitor may proceed to the next position with the spent casing remaining in the chamber. The magazine may stay in the magwell. The bolt cannot be touched or lifted. If it has, the chamber must be cleared and magazine removed.

Movement of SEMI-AUTO:

- Bolt must be back, and magazine dropped.
- No exceptions.

As I got interrupted at work, it seems Ryan beat me to an e-mail addressing everybody enlisted. I think it'll be another great event and people will have a good time with good people. Can't wait!

Thanks everybody for the quick fill up of registration spots.

Now we want your money!

Deadline for payment is this Friday.

Please pay via EMT to CDTSAPRS@gmail.com. Once payment is approved you'll get an e-mail from Practiscore.

20$ for members (...and you, and I, thought prices went up!)

30$ for non-members - Includes range insurance for competition only or with direct supervision of CDTSA member for after the match. CDTSA does not have a drop in user option. All guests must be under direct supervision from members.

10$ for guest passes will be required by all non-member spectators. Guest passes will be available during the morning sign-up and debriefing. If spectators show up late, immediately talk to either Ryan, Quinn, or Greg. They will instruct you on how to get the guest pass paid for. You will be given a little tab of paper and must keep this paper on you at all times.

Please note: CDTSA encourages spectators and non-member competitors, however you NEED a valid guest pass for any person on the range who is not a member. This is to cover club insurance. Any person found without a guest pass will be escorted off the range immediately.

Not mentioned by Shibbs yet is that we are in need of spotting scopes. I have a couple committed already but it is always nice to have more than enough.

It is our hope that this match will run a bit quicker than the last one but part of that is having shooters on deck being ready to roll as soon as the previous shooter is clear. The faster we go the more shooting we get to do.

We had some spectators come out last time and they were a big help so if you know anyone who wants to spend a day out at the range helping out please let them know they are invited.

Just over 1 week to go.

And a reminder to members and non-members travelling out there. GPS may say to use RR224. Please do NOT do that.

Use RR223

This is an agreement we have with the county.

Yes, taking pictures will be OK. I actually hope I may be able to take a couple myself.

At the last match I don't think a single picture was taken which is kind of sad.

Good points Ryan and Joka.

As all entrants will see they got an e-mail confirming the Practiscore participation. Please keep in mind this is separate of the payment approval. Payments are still required by end of day Friday by all competitors.

We will be testing out the practiscore app on score keeping for this match. Hard copies will still be taken in the event the scoring system fails to work. Approval was required for me to export the shooters list to the app.

Reminder for those making payment on the last 4 spots (I believe 3 remaining) spots to sign-up using Practiscore.

We are using thier free services to manage shooters and score keep this competition.

- Google Practiscore
- Search CDTSA
- CDTSA registration using the 007 e-mail is not the right one.. I'm attempting to get whomever created this registration to remove it...
- Click Precision Rifle Match

- Account may need to be created. It's free and quick to do.

Reminder if competitors don't view their e-mails. Please see the following e-mail sent out by Ryan earlier this week:

Hi Everyone,

The match is now only a couple of days away and there are some final things we need to go over.

1) It is critical that you take RR223 and not RR224 to get to the range (directions can be found on the CDTSA website).
2) Please be ready to go at 8:30. We would like to start the match as close to 9:00 as possible.
3) Please read the PRS rules before the match (these can be found on the CDTSA website).
4) The minimum round count is 43 but if we move fast enough there is an extra stage we can do. The round count seems lower this time but there are a few stages where round counts are limited.
5) Chamber flags are now going to be required at all CDTSA matches. Please bring one if you have one available to you.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you,

Ryan

Also!! Bring a shooting mat if you have one and hopefully you are all OK sharing. With all the rain lately the ground is a little damp.

For those of you who are big tough dudes they are not mandatory ;).

BUG SPRAY!!! I was out there yesterday, and wow! Almost got carried off!

Thanks everybody for showing up today. I had a great time.

Scores are below. Because each stage was designed to be 10 points, rounding and uneven target qty's have scores in fractions. The beauty with Practiscore the results are instant:

I'd like to open the table for ways to improve for the next match. If you have anything you can recommend or want to discuss please let us know.

Before anybody asks, strippers are not an option.

Some ideas I wouldn't mind enteratining:
- Target score based on difficulty. Doing this opens the door to two things: 1) More reward for more difficult shots, and 2) allows match designers to incorporate choices into stage COF.
- Max shooters of 20. Maybe 22. I think today's wait times were reasonable, but much longer can be a problem.
- More thorough use of Practiscore registration, payment, and score keeping/updating of scores so people can follow their scores in real time, or maybe every stage.
- A few things I'd need to clear with CDTSA that will remain unknown at this time, due to possibly more suprises next go around.

What! No strippers! This must be Obama's America!

Anyways, thanks again everyone for coming out today and big thanks to those who helped out (which was pretty much everyone). Thank you to all those that brought out their spotting scopes and spending a good chunk of their day with their eyes glued to them. A special thanks to the guys over at WRAS, not only did they bring much needed chamber flags but they also brought some great prizes.

Finally a huge thanks to Shibby for helping out on this match. Not only was he a scoring master he also helped with pretty much all other aspects of the match. Look how good he looks =>

It doesn't come easy...

Also, left behind was a green ammo can with an anodized purple combo lock. My prying eyes appears to be seeing 30cal ammunition inside. Please let me know who left this behind and we'll work on getting it returned.

Even more!
Need MOAR BAGS!

Greg giving directions - "First shoot this s**t and then go shoot some other s**t off of the pile of crap over there".
Shooting glasses make everyone look dorky.

Big thanks to Ryan, Quinn and everyone else that helped out for organizing and running the match. One of the things I really liked was the blind COF, It made for a level playing field. I agree that around 20ish competitors is about enough to have a good competition but not too many so as to slow things down too much. It was nice seeing guys from the first match as well as some new faces also, the comaraderie was great too, there was no whining, complaining, gaming... people were more than happy to score others shots even if slightly after calling time. Just a real great group.
Why do I feel the need to sing kumbaya right now?
Seriously though, thanks again.
