I have a friend that is building a 6.5 Creedmoor to compete in PRS,he wants a 26" barrel but wants to go as heavy as possible(for shooting say 10 shots),what are most guys shooting for a contour in these competitions.
Thanks

My preference is m24 and both my by comp rifles are 26” heavier the better less recoil easier to spot your shots. Both of my rifles are around 18-20 pounds

Make sure the barrel is heavy enough and long enough for the balance of the rifle to be forward of the mag well, (at least 3 inches.) so you can balance the rifle on your game changer bag on the obstacle.

If the rifle is too rear heavy you will need to use your body to steer instead of letting the rifle rest while you lightly touch off the trigger.

Heavy butt stocks can work against you unless the barrel is heavy enough to act as a counter weight... so consider the butt stock weight as well.

That is if you use a "free recoil" style of shooting.

But overall I agree that having a balance point near the magwell is preferred.

I really like the idea of shooting PRS but where are there and places to practice or competitions in ontario? (Other than the meaford steel challange)

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Thanks
Andrew
