The Hornady 174 is the right weight but the wrong shape. Its profile is very close to the old Mark II/Mark VI bullet except that they wre 215 grains.
The Hornady bullet, being short for its weight, is difficult to seat far enough FORWARD to get the bullet to its correct position in the leade.
Hornady could DOUBLE their sales of .303 bulets if they would only make THIS bullet in a 215. I have a whole rack of LMs and early LEs that would really appreciate it.
THEN they could start to make money by putting out a 174-grain POINTY bullet.
Their 150 is already superb, especially in Rosses and the P-'14.
We will be more than happy to buy the things; Hornady makes excellent bullets. But will they listen?
