Public lands

Two things you need to do:

1- head further north for good hunting......

2- start knocking on doors, politely asking for permission and offering to exchange some work for hunting land......

You live in Canada's second biggest metropolis....... Expecting to hunt nearby is a pipe dream.....

well I don't know about BC but in Alberta the hunters training and regs specifically say "ask for permission to hunt on private{/occupied public land for grazing} land" but there are also lots of "wilderness areas" provincial land that a person can hunt on.

A land use map is helpful: it identifies crown land vs owned lands, and for owned lands, identifies the owner.

As others have said, if you're going to go out and knock on a few doors BEFORE HUNTING SEASON (with requests for permission in exchange for some chores), it's nice to know the name of the guy answering the door.
In all my years of hunting on farmland in Alberta, I only ever had one owner say no. Normally it was "Okay, but no shooting on the home quarter, and don't shoot my cows."

The guy is doubling up - see GFD....(whoops - my bad - got moved while I had two tabs open).

It's not as easy as "got gun, go hunting"

You'd be surprised how many foreigners have this attitude when they come to Canada. There really aren't any places on the planet that have more public access to quality hunting than Canada, especially BC, so I'm not sure where the OP is coming from.

Start by getting a landowner map of the areas you plan to hunt.

I don't live in BC but private land is private land. someone owns and pays for it and taxes for it and you complain about it.......... I live in Ontario and had a difficult time finding land to hunt so, guess what, I stepped up and bought my own. I can let whoever I want here. I pay a mortgage and taxes on it........
instead of having the poor attitude you seem to have. knock on doors and ask permission, offer to help out around the land. the attitude you have at present won't get you anywhere but a spot on your couch for the upcoming season.
