Got out to go chase grouse with the wife ( forst day she can hunt em) We managed to see 14 in total and she was able to arrow 1

I on the other hand kept my eyes peeled on the water. Lots of ponds en route today and saw some flashes.

I parked the truck and went and jump shot these 3.

Cool. What do you use to retrieve the ducks. I do some puddle jumping but I have to wait until they are over dry ground to shoot.

I keep a canoe on my truck for most of the fall bird hunting trips.

I use a collapsible spinning rod and a surface bait like a jitterbug. Crude but effective. The blade on a jitterbug is decent at pushing a dead duck. If your casting skills are good enough

Thought only I used a fishing rod to retrieve ducks.

i have used fishing rods fir years to get my ducks. As a matter of fact the floating rap has not left my truck since ive switched over to canoes.
