Pull unknown reloads

This is not fun. I have acquired like 400 or more reloaded rifle rounds. I guess I should save the brass but what a pain.

How can that not be fun? Pulling rounds, weighing and sorting bullets, pushing out primers, sorting brass, lighting off the waste powder in the backyard... I could do that all day!

What part of that is not fun?

Cause right now I have limited time. And need to sight my new rifle in, and work on load development. Way more fun than messing with the other stuff.

Then sit on them :)

What's so pressing that they need to take priority. They won't spoil. Carry on with your fun stuff and come back to them when you reach an impass with your own load development, and need a mundane monotonous task to clear your head.

Agree. They already sat long enough that the old boy died before he could shoot them, a few more weeks or months won't hurt. And if you don't make it until then there'll be some other mope on here asking what to do with the ammo after your wife sells it to him!

I ended up with a few hunderd 308's that where just marked reloads from my uncle who has no idea where they came from or what year. So like a dumbbell I tried some.
Big no no! 3 shots and bang stuck case. Take out a different gun. Same thing in 2 shots. These where jammed in good. So after looking more closely and noticed all cases are mixed. And the stuck stuff was old mil surplus cases. These where hot loads for sure and the surplus cases should have been loaded less because the thicker walls.
I got one of those new bullet pullers and in time pulled the works. Dumped the powder, because there was no way of identifying the different powders. To be safe, I put the cases in a pail of water to kill the primers, re-sized what I wanted to keep and sorted by make, keep all the bullets ,sorted by weight. If you cannot confirm everything or do not know and trust the source. Pull all of them.

Never put your safety in another man's hands, if you don't know him or trust the source.
