I hope the barrell guard is easily removed for cleaning, I bet ya the barrell gets pretty hot after a couple of 50 rounds and that's why the guard is there.

By "Slam fire" do you mean "Fire from an open bolt"?

I would suspect not. There are few open bolt firearms that are legal in Canada (not none, just few) and there's all kinds of hoops that have to be jumped through (or so it seems) before the RCMP will approve them.

They are hammer fired, closed bolt, not unlike any number of other .22 rifles.
The barrel shroud is one piece with the receiver.
The drum magazine is more reliable than the curved 30 round magazine.
A loading tool is necessary to load the drum.

It had a strange malfunction .It would fire when you pulled the trigger & fire when you release the trigger .

While you are not wrong, that's not quite a clear explaination.

Existing open bolt semi auto's in the US are in somewhat of a grey zone right now.

Beginning around 1981, BATFE (ATF then) formed the opinion that open bolt semi autos were too easily made to fire full auto. They didn't reclassify them as machine guns at the time, but they also have not approved an open bolt design for title one sales since.

There are more than a few owners of open bolt semi auto guns such as the Ingram/MAC series who are hoping that at some point that they are reclassified, so they can legally be converted.

BATFE are unlikely to reclassify them, as they would have to open up the registry and allow the owners to register the guns. Also, they would have trouble saving face once the great unwashed realized that they came to the conclusion 28 years prior to taking action.
