After reading my thread title be aware this thread is for all ages. The first rifle I ever fired was an old Marlin pump gun in .22. God it was fun to shoot. Who makes the best .22 mag. pump gun? I have been leaning toward's the Henry but no one seems to have one in stock. Anyone have any opinions or suggestion's.

I got one of the last remaining Henry pump actions last year at a very nice price from SIR. I'm in love . Action was a bit stiff at first no #### but now its smooth like butter and getting better. Got a nice trigger and she's accurate to boot .

try the remingtonfieldmaster pump . I have a iverjohnston made by erma in germany and it's lot;s of fun. I was talking to a neighbour the other day and he told me that a friend of his just bought on of those remingtons and his buddy just loves the 22 pump. I just looked it up in the cataloge and whosalesports sells the remington pump.www.wholesalesports.com. there 449.95 in the cataloge. I saw one at the gunshow on saturday for 195.00 used ofcourse . make sure to have a look at the firing pin on a used 22 to check for someone dry firing the gun alot . the good thing about a pump is you can use shorts and subsonics in them . take care .
Used several over the last year, I really like the old remington model 12-A, and 121 Fieldmaster. Savage also made a very nice pump .22 in the model 29A, very sturdy and accurate to boot.

22 pump
I too love them. First one I ever shot was at my aunts farm in Sask it was a Browning trombone and the memories are still there from those fun days.. So much so I now have 3 of them Guess the older we get the more we want the guns we used to have or shot
Interesting two are labeled FN and one as Browning pump. My understanding is they were reg this way before they were made officially under the browning name??? Have a little semi auto reg the same FN
I think out of all the pumps I have tried over the yrs they are the slickest out there and also being a take down are great to take camping etc.
Missed out on a deal for a I believe it was a Savage pump with a clip now that would have been fun to have..

I have been in love with them ever since. Nice to look at and nice to shoot. All Winchester pumps were designed by the master --J. M. Browning . I have 1890s , 06s, 61s and 62s in my collection and still looking for 2 model 61s --- 1 in octagon barrel and 1 in smooth bore shot.
I had a friend , now deceased, who collected any and all makes and models of pump 22s. If I ever gave up Winchester collecting this is what I would do.
The worst pump 22 ever made was the Cooey.
One of the most interesting was the Stevens "Visible Loader".
Pump 22s is a very interesting and affordable field of collecting ( and shooting).

My favorite Grouse gun...a Winchester 06 (serial number dates it to approx 1930ish).
Sadly I might have to give it up to the Australian relatives soon, who inherited it. 
Modern pump wise Taurus makes replicas of these 06's.

I compared the Remington pump to the Henry on the weekend. No comparison. The fit and finish on the Henry was far superior to the Rem.(not to mention the wood) The action on the Henry was a little stiff compared to the Rem(i am sure it will loosen up). but it shouldered better, and felt more solid. As far as the .22 mag being to expensive to have fun with. I like getting a bigger bang for my buck.SuperCub said:
