Pump or Auto?

Ha but you forgot the artress used a pump shorti in the metal products company.

Didn't forget. Just was correcting any possible misconception that only pump guns were used in the Terminator movies. ;)

Remington auto shotguns that I have SEEN (note, with my own eyes) jam frequently. I have not seen a Benelli semi jam or fail. My M1S90 runs flawlessly, as does my Nova (although I prefer the 870, do not like Nova's trigger or the feel of the pump). This is my own anecdotal experience, take it for what its worth.

My advice to you is this, buy what you want because it works for you.
I will strongly advise that you look at an 870 and M1 for a pump/semi combo first. Also, check out IPSC Shotgun forums and see what the experienced players are running, it'll show you what experience teaches.

That fancy new Remington 105 CTi looks interesting. Certainly won't be too heavy.

The latest issue of GunDog magazine has an article on it.

I haven't read all of it but it seems that they are giving it a good review, even calling the 105CTi a revolutionary design.

like every one else on here has said get what you like, presonally i prefer my winchester 1300 pump, its got a rotating bolt head that is spring loaded and it can be pumped very quickly for follow up shots at anything. but a remington 870 is a very good choice to, i have yet to see my 2 friends with 870's have to messaround with them in the field because of a jam or something like that.

My own two cents: I have used Remington 11-87 autoloaders extensively for the past several years with ZERO jams. A few years ago went with the 11-87 Super Magnum to get near 10 gauge performance out of an autoloader and haven't looked back.
Incidentally, the most horrific jam I ever encountered while waterfowling happened to be with a Remington 870 Super Magnum pump action; I literally had to bring the gun home, take it apart and free the empty shell with a vise grip. That shotgun went bye-bye a few days later.
My hunting buddy, who's forgotten more about waterfowling then I will ever know, uses autoloaders exclusively, with his favourite being a Remington 10 gauge.

Another vote for "get whatever turns your crank".

My preference is for an O/U. I've shot 2 ducks, 3 pheasants, and 1 deer with it..... and tons of clay birds.

Right now ive got 3 pumpers.
20" barrel wingmaster
26" barrel wingmaster
Mossberg beater needing parts.

I used to shoot an 1100 but found the extra weight a little clumsy.
I know its only a pound but find the 870 just feels better.
Sold the 1100 and am very happy with what i have now.
As for recoil i shoot 1 oz loads for trap and for hunting it recoil doesnt really matter since i wont be shooting a hundred rounds on a trip. Plus im alergic to foul of all kinds so dont need 3-3.5 inch.
I prefer the simplicity and reliablity of my Wingmaster. I find that follow up shot decent as well since its a handmade action its super slick.
Also just a little tip. I put a really heavy grease like tar on my action bars
it is so smooth its unbeleivable.

Mind you in the future i want an o/u.
Good luck

I got rid of my benelli nova pump after 3 years of hunting, partly just wanted a new gun but the pump was to rattly when sneaking through the woods. I ended up getting a new 11-87 3.5 inch thumbhole and must say the speed of the semi when sluggin for deer is my personal favorite!
