Pump pillow filler

Hi slim
They use a fine styrofoam pellet in a Lycra type material bag. A friend of mine who is doing shooting bags cut one open to see what was on the inside. Hard to find something similar that is that light.

Had to google them, cool idea. From what I gather people use these for competition or are they viewed the same as these guys?

Made my own and I prefer to fill them with foam. Same density as what you would find in a gun case, just cut it into 2" blocks. Made them for all my shooting buds as well and they all like them.

Thanks APS any ideas where to buy them or are they similar to what Kombayotch put up the link for?

U-shaped travel pillows from the dollar store have what you need inside of them. I think we needed 4 to fill mine (so $4). Super light and works great. The only draw back is the stuff is static-y and hard to clean up, so plan accordingly.

Hard to tell from the picture in the link Kombayotch but are the poly beans small for this bean bag filler? We've been looking for the micro poly beads but can't seam to find anything local.

Thanks

The first generations bags used them. They look like this:

There are some more resilient industrial ones that are being used now. Just add a zipper so that the back can be topped-up or refilled as they break down.

Thanks for the input everyone!

If there's anyone out there building there own and selling them I'd be interested in seeing them and hearing what your charging before I relive my old home econimics sewing days and fire up the old sewing machine. Shoot me a PM

Thanks Slim

Where did all you guys learn to sew?

I can barely sew on a freaking button and when I do I choose the wrong colour thread (I am colour blind though)...

The bags are filled with micro head EPS pellets. Any place that manufacturers styrofoam blocks should be able to supply you with them, be aware they do have a MOQ, I had to but 11 sq/m of the stuff. I am in last stages of R&D on my own style of "pump" pillow. Hope to have them done in be next couple of weeks. I'll post some pics when done.

I also make smaller bags filled with recycled plastic pellets, roll up mats and few other projects in pipe.

These styrofoam pellets work really well. Wally World sells really big bags of them for around $25. The challenge is getting the pellets from inside the vendor's bag into your bag. If they can see open spaces and air you're F*cked. If they get loose they hide everywhere and actually breed once set free. You're system for getting these canny devils from the store bag into your bag has to be a closed system. I used a leaf blower/vacuum. You could use a shop vac without filter and hoses on both sides of the unit. The idea is to suck them out of the store bag and deposit them into your bag keeping the escapee numbers to a minimum.
