pumping an 870 pointing down

happend wehn i shot my dads remington 870 a couple of times and couldn't figure out why it was happening and it just hit me i operated the mag a couple of times with it pointing down or i t might have been poor technique

Unless there is somethign mechanically wrong wiht the firearm, it shoudl eject just fine. You probably short stroked it.

X2 though. That or perhaps your using that el cheapO 100 count ammo by chance? I know my 870 doesn't like it. But likes the Federal 100 count skeet rounds a little better then the winchester stuff.

yeah with the savage rifle the cartrige ejects before goes back far enough to load the second one did that once and only once
