Purchase a rifle in USA

Newbie here. I did a quick search but probably did not use the correct key words since nothing came up

Q: Can I easily purchase a hunting rifle in the USA and import it to Canada? I would be driving over the border. I live 15 minutes from the border and looking online at some prices it may be worth my while if not too much of a hassle to get it in the states.

Thanks for any input.

You can purchase it but you cannot take possession of it in the U.S. unless you have first established residency in the U.S. If you choose to buy it there anyway, the Seller can have a U.S. DOS-registered exporter export the firearm from the U.S. on your behalf. You cannot take possession of it in the U.S. unless you have first established residency in the U.S.

There are at least three such exporters who will accomodate you for such an export.
