Purchased Stag Arms DI - Thanks Everyone!

New AR On Order!

Thanks for all of the advice, I just purchased a Stag Arms DI 16" 1:7 upper and A2 lower from Arms East. So far their service has been exceptional. I also have a Magpul MOE grip and Spikes 12" Bar on the way. I will probably order a stainless low profile gas block from DLASK. Can anyone tell me if I need to order a new gas tube to accommodate the new low profile Gas block? Down the road will be a Magpul CTR and stock assembly, and likely a Trijicon TA31RCO. Any suggestions for a quality pair of BUIS and a good aftermarket compensator for this setup that I can order in Canada?

Enjoy your new toy, great choices. I also have the Magpul CTR on my Stag Arms carbine and it's really nice, you "lock it down" and there's no movement. My piston Stag Arms carbine came with MI BUIS from and rear and I like them. Arms East probably has them as a separate item. For the compensator, try Dlask and NEA, they both have nice and effective products.

You're going to have a bucket load of fun. I'd recommend finding a good carbine course.

Just shave off the FSB instead of wasting money on buying a new gas block.

You do not need a compensator for a 16".

+1 if you replace the gas block, the odds that it'll be as secure a fit as the factory one are very slim. You can turn the stock FSB into a low profile block with a dremel tool and some cold blue - just take your time, and remember you can take more off but you con't out any back. Also, your C8 won't have a comp on it and 556 doesn't really have any recoil that needs management beyond stance and grip.

A good comp doesn't hurt. I'm really liking my PWS clone on my 16in midlength. The gun doesn't even flinch off target standing unsupported when I do my part

The reason for ordering a new gas block is so that I can maintain the stock configuration of the A2 sight in case I ever decide to return the rifle to it's stock configuration. Do you think that the tolerances of a mil-spec barrel actually vary enough to affect the cycling pressures of the impingement system with an aftermarket gas block? I guess I will have to measure it before ordering. Dlask says that their tolerances are within +.0005/-.0000 inch which I would presume would be within acceptable limits. This is the comp I am looking at all though there are certainly a lot of other options out there.

Highly efficient Compensator / Muzzle Brake. Effectively reduces recoil, muzzle climb and dust print. It offers great gun stability providing for very fast follow-up shots. CNC-machined out of steel, black phosphate finish. Made in Canada. .875" OD, 2" OAL and 1/2"-28tpi.

Do any of you find a noticeable difference in accuracy between a barrel mounted A2 iron sight and a free floating rail mounted iron sight? Does anyone have experience with troy folding battle sights?
