In the past weeks i have invested a lot in my 308 reloading.
Now that i am getting well equipped, i want to bring powder charging to the next level.

RCBS chargemaster combo will be up for sale soon, as i'm replacing it with AD FX120 and autotrickler.
I read the threads on it here, juste making sure before i purchase.

Is this the place to buy the autotrickler? I'm confused, a Canadian shop using USD currency.

Am i checking the right model scale?

Just covering my bases, as it looks like a 1000$ investment and a mistake would be frustrating.
Other than these two purchases do i need any additionnal wiring and such?

I called Camebridge Enviro and ordered over the phone. The gentleman asked for my company's name, and when I said it was for personal use he asked if I was a shooter. After that, he guided me thru the options and asked me if I wanted the auto-tricker. Very helpful! Just call.

Did you end up with a scale with different options than the one in the link?
Funny how a science lab hardware store are regularly catering to shooters.

I have had one for 6 months now and don't think you need anything extra.

When I first got it all set up i put a bullet on there and noted the weight (178.1 grains for those interested). Everyone once in awhile I throw it back on to make sure it has not drifted - it has not.

In my opinion do not bother with spoons or lee scoops. Buy some tall stainless shot glasses and rig up a thrower to dump directly on to the scale.

Great purchase.

Then if i use my weight scale checks i already got (Complete kit with even .5gr pieces) i'll be good enough.

Rigging up a thrower to dump directly on the scale is a very cool idea indeed.
I might get into doing it.

I didn't bother with the auto-trickler. I use an RCBS powder thrower that I've always had, set to dispense just under. Trickle up using an Omega Power Trickler. It takes 15 to 20 seconds per round.

If your wanting the autotrickler to go with that scale that is te right spot to get it. Not sur why he is using us currency other than maybe more of his customers are from the us. I want that setup myself.

Also i have met the guy and his wife and they seem like great people. He helped develop the load i am using in my 308 and is fairly local to me.

I have this scale and trickler set up... it works very well... not perfect but pretty darn close. When using extruded powders, you will have to adjust one or two kernels more or less around 50% of the time if you want perfect charges. If 0.1gr is close enough, then it is bang on...

DO use the Lee scoop and not a powder measure. The trickler works best when it can see a difference of a gr or 2 to the target weight and spools up. The trickler tosses alot of powder in a few seconds so 1gr of powder is nothing... it takes longer for it to creep from say 0.4gr away from target then from 1.5gr from target. Also, if you are too close, say 0.2gr away, it will not spool up at all.

When the trickler is spooled up, it can slow down much quicker and more accurately to hit the target.... if you already have one, try it... drop a charge that is 1 gr too low and compare the time vs a charge that is 0.4gr away. Mine is way faster 1 to 2 gr away from target.

Yep, the tricker is Cdn manf but priced in USD.... and yes, the market in the US is many fold bigger so that is how things are priced.

Not cheap, but this set up WORKS and works well. The positioning of the trickler can need some tweaking but instructions are given and easy to follow. There are no extra parts if you have the FX120i and trickler.

for those interested, I have a brand new Omega trickler that was going to be used but I got the auto trickler and now the Omega is redundant... never been used. PM or email.

I still beg to differ about the scoops.

Scale zeros, trickler starts up, throw charge about 2 grains (or whatever you want really they are adjustable) under final load, trickler finishes.

Less hand movement, the thrower is sort of repeatable. and I am fairly certain it is faster.

Myself will give the lee powder spoon a chance.
I had one that came with my 308 dies and dispenses about 39gr of varget
If i find it too tedious, i'll consider the powder thrower,

I do see the powder thrower requiring 2 hands to hold powder pan underneat,
With the spoon i can work with a single hand, which leaves the other free for a refreshment!

Aparently they sell 10s of thousands of these to reloaders. Reloader make up a majority of their sales. Crazy.

It's pretty convenient and good business too ... one creates a demand for the other. I thought I'd have to buy from two separate places and was pleasantly surprised to find I only had to deal with one shipment (and one Canada Post payment).

For those interested, do not purchase trickler before scale like i did.
Cambridge enviro, offers a scale/trickler package. That way you pay 1 shipping fee and get a small discount, which i won't get

The exact same, he actually sells them to cambridge enviro.
They are very aware of reloading, and even told me it made up a good chunk of their sales
