Purchasing AD FX120 scale and auto trickler

That the one. After talking to him, I also bought the calibration kit

This is one of the things that I wondered about. I know they offer to assemble and test the unit before it's shipped. What is included in the calibration kit? Could anyone expand what this calibration kit is? Is it an up sell on the product or does it contain value.

I also purchased calibration kit
Which essentially is, one weight check, that you can recalibrate scale
It is said they are factory calibrated, but at a certain altitude/pressure
The scale is so sensitive, it can give slightly different readings at different barometric pressure.
With calibration, you are 0.02gr close no matter what barometric pressure.

Also mentioned the weight check, should be stored in seal box it comes in, and never manipulated bare hands
Scale is sensitive enough to pick up any contamination on the check weight

is the weight certified to a certain decimal place? Price on the kit?

It's one weight, 100grams i believe.
Did not ask which certification it had, he only told me it was a chromed piece on stainless steel, and that scale was so sensitive that i should never touch the weight bare hands.
The 100g check weight was in the mid 20$ iirc

Edit : if you order an fx120 scale, you might want to ask for signature required
Was on my doorstep after a days work

You actually calibrate EVERY time you weigh a charge.... you have a powder pan, know what it weighs. Confirm when you start that the scale reads that same weight. Adjust as necessary.

I also see what that tare value is before dropping the charge in the case. If the tare value changes alot (gust of wind, bump the scale), rezero and reweigh.

If you have a calibration weight, awesome but kind of redundant as your pan does that for you with every charge.

Enjoy...

And yes, the scale is ubber sensitive. See the change in weight value as you reach for the pan to pick up.

Well worth the investment...

I only ever saw ASTM class 7 on cambridge's website, not a very accurate weight. Good Class 1 or even Class 2 weights which is what would be ideal for this type of scale if you really want to do a calibration to an accurate weight, are around $200-300ea. Not really necessary for reloading though. I made my pan weigh 100grains. I only care about make sure I don't get drift of stickiness.

Watch humidity and heat with these scales. Mine gets very sticky/useless when its much over 25 in here and humid. Air conditioning should solve that this year... they're meant to be in a dry environment at 20C, 68F. Also put it on a fairly solid table that doesn't vibrate/shake around, and watch for air flow, turn the fans off and so on for best accuracy.

Good info Jerry thanks!

I was previously running RCBS chargemaster combo, and had a few parameters set in my reload room for it, and when i was careful i did get good results.

As in no fluorescent lighting while powdering, turn the scale on an hour before use, really sturdy leveled work bench installed on concrete, dehumidifier running non stop (turn it off before reloading) and set the room to 45% humidity, it's always around 71-72f in the room, no cell phone close... only missing ferrite beads as i had not found some at time i was running rcbs

Received it and installed/tuned it.
I am in love with this setup, feels like precision equipment.
I had to run trickler empty for a while and would still jam, a bit of 1000 grain sandpaper gave it a hand.

Now, do you guys jeep it plugged in or do you pull the cord when you are done?
I kept it plugged in, even at off there is a small dashboard indicator on the scale that is lit.
If i do keep it plugged in long term, i guess a computer style battery pack wouldn't be a bad idea to better protect it from surges
