I want to pick up a nice SKS and wondering switch one to get. Marstar has the new nevered issued Military Chinese for 189.99 plus 26 to ship,
Westrifle has the reconditioned russain sks laminated stock for 225 plus free shipping shipped.
so the price is the same.
what one is the best way to go.
I know Marstar has the sks ammo deal, put it's to much for the shipping. so I a only interested in the rifle.

might as well just get both, that's what happens to most of us. they seem to cuddle well in the safe and play well at the range.

i have 2 of each, really don't have a preference here. i bought the chinese because it was "new" and added a russian refurb after the fact, but you dont' really notice any difference in them and they seem to shoot the same.

i guess the laminated stock is a bit nicer if you're gonna leave it alone. either way you can't go wrong.
just grab lots of ammo cuz you'll need it.

If you want the best, get a laminated Russian from Wanstalls. Here's mine:

Chinese are alright, but the metal work is so/so. Most Russian SKS's are refurbs and are in excellent condition. Choice is yours but can't beat the Russians in my opinion. The one pictured is a Laminated Russian SKS I bought from Wanstalls. It was $199+10 shipping a few months ago. I couldn't believe how gorgeous it was... Here is proof.

Most people buy the Chinese ones to bubba them up... it's an individual choice. Glad I bought the one I did.

Buy a Russian and keep it stock, buy the chi-com and use its as a shovel.

I bought a Chinese one to mess with and have a numbers matching Russian on preorder with Westrifle that I'll be keeping stock.

Sense a theme? ;)

If you want a beater get the Chinese

If you want a collector get the Russian

Both are just as strong and shoot the same

Russian FTW! I have 2 of the russian SKS's. First one I got I Tapco Fcked, I just got another on sunday from The Shooting Edge to keep stock. I payed 250$ each for them, a bit high, but they were in excellent condition.

$250 is too much. Can't see anyone paying more than $200 for an SKS unless it has collector value. Not for one you will go shoot.

I'm not too worried abut it, and I dont think the guy before me who bought 6 of them was worried about it. They were in excellent shape, and all the numbers are matching.
What makes a SKS collecter value?

i have owned OVER 10 sks rifles (& shot even more)...russians are nice to look at and collect, norinco (commercial chinese, not military) was the only bad one i've had (as in won't fire), chinese military quality (especially the early ones) is almost same as russian, and i've found them to shoot a little better than the russians...i have russian and chinese, people will always pay more for the russian, simple...my shooters are chinese, my pretty ones are russian...shoot them all, love them all, but re-sale will favour one gun over another, just like a german flare gun will always be worth more than a polish flare gun (exact same gun in same condition!)

Depends on the collector..

The grain of wood on the stock they year were it was made the markings on it ect. Some people want everything some want one or 2 some don't care.

Most want all matching serial numbers non referbesed stock ie no ###X on it

I'm partial to the Yugo M59 myself. Those Yugoslavians know how to build a damn good gun.

However, if you're going to rip it apart and "tacticool" it, use a Chinese.

I have a Russian unfired for collection and the Chinese SKS is going to see heavy modding and firing. :)
One cannot go wrong with Marstar's $75 SKS combo deal if the ammo shipping don't kill you.

We have been done that road before. I thought we figure out that we classify as never been used for both Russian (from westrifle) and Chinese SKS. Not new
As to all people we are starting shipping SKS rifles on Wendsday. FREE SHIPPING will end on Wednesday. This is only valid for pre-order.

New is New and Uses is Used, not hard to choose............Go with the Marstar deal.
