Had it out to the range today for the first time (finally). Got some great groupings at 50 meters without optics, then moved out to 100, and finally 200. Can't honestly say I've had more fun with other rifles. Put 200 rounds through it today, but wound up with 13 duds (6.5%). Is that normal for Czech surplus ammo (1961) or did I get a bad batch?

Seriously considering picking up another SKS to modfiy with a synthetic stock/pistol grip/optics etc. Would be fun to put together a poor man's AR.

I have also not been impressed with the service and attitude at Lever Arms. I think it's because they have hourly paid staff as opposed to most of the other stores that are owner operated.

I've been in Lever Arms a few times and was underwhelmed by the attitude of the staff. I have a hard time buying anything from such a depressing place. Reliable on the other hand, is miles ahead of them for customer service.

I find it amusing how people can whine and complain about the service of Lever Arms or any other company and yet be back in the front of the line when they have something the whiners want!!!!

I've had pretty crap service at Reliable Gun in Vancouver as well as lever arms.

I went in to purchase some ammo at Reliable, about $200 dollars worth, and the clerk (owner) answered a phone call in the middle of our transaction. I held out my PAL for him to check (he never asked for it, just continued to talk on the phone). Ran the debit transaction through. I said thank you as I left, he didn't even look up. Not sure what the problem was, but I was the only customer in the store and there was really no conversation leading up to this.

When I go into lever arms they atleast usually reconize me, and know i'm there to buy something, not waste their time with questions and no purchase. As I posted before they even helped me pick out a good SKS.

The thing is, I guess I EXPECT good service from an owner operated store like Reliable Gun, where at Lever Arms it's not necessarily a given, so I feel less dissipointed if I don't get the service I desire.

That said, the best experience i've ever had purchasing ammunition has to have been from Blue Line in Coquitlam. The owner and I had a great chat, and given it's proximity to the ranges I frequent, I expect further patronage.

in the spirit of not derailing the thread, fine looking rifle you have there sir.

i ordered one in from frontier, and of all the places i contacted, they are above and away the friendliest and easiest to deal with over the phone. let's hope they sent me a nice sks ^^;;.

if i call someone with questions and have the slightest feeling that they think i'm wasting their time, well, they obviously have people lining up to give them their money. they don't need mine.

I bought a few accessories from Frontier last week, and was very, very pleased with the service.

Ordered a S&W 629 .44 Magnum from Frontier this week even though Reliable had them for the same price. That phone call in the middle of the transaction cost them a $1,200 sale.

Frontier seems like a great company to deal with, hopefully they send you a great SKS that you get several years of use out of. Post a pic when you get it!
