Pure lead hard to get

Know any roofers? All the older houses have lead flashings on them. This year alone Ive taken probably 500 lbs to the recycler. They only pay about 5c a pound of them.

Lead is still used in new construction, we use it to dress in drains. How ever the industry is trying to move away from it, but some jobs still call for it. I brought home close to 30 lbs the other day, and that was only after dressing in 2 of the drains soo far.

wheel weights are too hard for muzzle loader balls because the contain a lot of antomony.

Wheel weights make excellent RB for target work. They are not in contact with the bore as they're in a lubed patch. I use them in my P53 Enfield with great results. Some use them for hunting large thicker skinned animals as they will not expand directly on impact.

If you're going to use wheelweights for muzzleloading don't drop the hot bullets into a bucket of cold water (or snow). You'll end up with "ball bearings".
Harder than hell. They'll bounce on a concrete floor just like steel ball bearings.
Air cool if you're going to do muzzleloader balls. They won't bounce on concrete either...
