Nice re-finish. The shelac on mu repro is chipped and splotchy. I had already decided to re do it in satin tung oil. Your posting seals the deal.

Please post the steps of getting the old finish off, etc.

Please just refinish it with shellac. Thinly layered and buffed shellac looks incredible, google "French Polish".

Denatured alcohol dissolves shellac, that's all you need to strip it.
