Purple loctite

Beware that there are more formulations than what is shown.
There is at least another green (for large, loose fitting fasteners) and another red... both are considered for permanent installations.

I've used these before in industry. They have very, very few applications in gun work. Forget the part numbers right now.

My one tube should last my lifetime. Sure beats runny thread lockers dripping on gun finishes.

I've drilled out more screws held with red loctite than blue. If you have to use any thread locker for your scope base screws, try to avoid red.
If you run into something assembled with red loctite, I have found an easy way to avoid damage from using a heat gun or torch.
Take a screwdriver that you don't like (we all have some of those) that fairly closely fits the head of the screw. Heat it red-hot. Hold it in the head of the screw as it cools. Usually works the first time around, but might need a second shot.
