Usually, when we push bush for whitetail, the fellas standing post have a couple coyotes run past within seconds of the pushers entering the bush. Anyone use this method for shooting yotes?

Yes: We track them in the snow, one hunter on the tracks, other hunters set up on travel routes. It is hard work but we managed 42 last season usually around 35 to 40 is normal. We hunt in farm country Ontario with smaller bush areas. If you were to hunt big bush areas, they will walk around you all day once they relies you cant catch them.We have hunted the same area for around 20 years, so it is a little easier.

Yup. we drive the county roads and look for fresh tracks.

When found, we post one man on the track where the coyote went in with a shotgun,( most likely to get the shot) and other guns at traditional crossings then drive round to the downwind side and push the bush.

Coyotes are quick to leave, but nothing beats the fox out of the bush when they know you're there.

Good luck this coming season.:)

We have one area where we "Run the Brush" as we call it. We set one guy along a slough where the brush funnels and the other guy starts a half mile away at he end of the bush and crashes through it until he reaches the shooter. The slough is generally dry in the winter and the shooter's vantage point is above it. The yotes will normally drop into the slough 100 yds away so you can see them coming and get ready. They cross at about 30yds and the shotgun does a nice job. Some have been shot at 10 yards. We used to have a dog that loved to run the brush and was very effective. Once the shooter heard the dog bark even if it was 4-500 yards away, he knew that a coyote would be showing up within the minute.
