Put some wrong primers in!

Really, would you care to explain to us the purpose of the holes in the bolt?
I believe that they are referred to as vent holes.

Yes they are, but they vent towards the mag well in most firearms. Tikka is the only one I know about (I am sure there are others) that vent towards your face, straight out the back of the bolt. Sure they have a guard there but it's plastic and it usually flys off the first time you pierce a primer....... Ask me how I know......

It's for this reason I no longer own any Tikka Rifles....... Once bitten twice shy as it were......

It's also the reason I tend to use anything but Federal primers when I have the option.

Nothing quite like having to take a shell off your bolt b/c it's stuck there on the fireing pin, you really start to question your reloading habits and methods.

Cheers!

get a puller, pull the bullets & powder, chamber and fire off the empty primed cases... end of story. just mark the 9 with a red marker around the primer and set them aside until you get another puller. hell, it's ony 9 bullets.

I just looked at a t-3 bolt at the range today. It actually has two vent holes, one small one by the bolt lugs, and a larger one farther back. Both vents are aimed outwards, not rearwards.Nonetheless, they could use a better arrangement.

If it is a question of the left over primers, youc an usully identfy a few strays becasue the foil inside is a differnt colour. the 5 odd-ball ones are pistol.

if you can't tell, throw them out.

Those of you saying "Just shot them" are idiots.
Pistol primers are guarantied to fail at rifle pressures, even if the gas handling system of the rifle is good enough to prevent injury to the shooter it WILL cause erosion damage to the bolt face, 5 pierced primers might cause enough damage to render the bolt unserviceable, and tossing your loaded ammo will look like deal.

X2
You will only be out the cost of 45 primers. $1.50 to $2.00. Is that worth the possible consequences?

Pull em and toss em. Pretty stressed over $2 worth of primers and 9 bullets...;)

I envy your apathy.

It is nothing about financial loss. In this day and age, all primers and bullets count. No loss is acceptable:cool:

Nor are eyes and rifles.

Pull and keep the bullets, powder - maybe, but toss the primers.

I have already addressed that my intention was to pull them as per post #8
Thanks for caring about my health :D

Anyway I wouldn't have asked but since many guys shooting 38super/supercomp use small rifle, I tought I could do the same...
Thanks for your time yall

Too late now, you are at a point where you are trying to minimize your loses.
The primers are toast. Mistakes cost money. Get your self a bullet puller and disassemble the questionable rounds.
What ever you do don't shoot any that might have a pistol primer, trust me on this one, this is a voice of experience speaking.

Yes you can do the same, but your screwup is hardly the "same".
I an surprised that you needed to ask, as I am extremely surprised that some posters said to just shoot them.

That's going forward in strength, you're going backward to weaker.

I know I shouldn't assume you read all the posts, but that question was in the original post...

what's best to do with them? Load them in a pistol? or load them in a rifle?
OR dump em :)puke:)

And yes as you just quoted me, I will pull them when I get my puller from warranty, so these rounds won't exist anymore...
