put the old 305 on some walnut

Love the wood stock. Synthetic is great for hard use, but nice wood screams "classy" to me. I've been debating on putting my money down on a set. I still kick myself for selling my other 22", but I guess I could always buy another to put into it.

Nice looking pair!
I just came back from my range and they had a few of the "new batch" M305's 18.5" bbls on the rack for sale. I fondled the wood stock version. Both the wood/ metal fit and finish were VG. The wood felt soooo nice. Counter guy said the wood was from Italy.
The M305 with wood was going for $869….would look good with my 18.5".
 
Now that is a good looking gun. I will take wood over any composite or plastic , or what ever fancy name they have for plastic any day.

ya i saw those italian ones, gorgeous wood on those!
but the price, owch!
i think my dad all in on his was under 600
430 for the gun and i think the boyd stock was 100 + shipping.
so thats still 270 less then those new ones with the italian wood on them.

so thats $270 worth of ammo!!!!
 
Very nice stock, really takes the rifle up a notch. I'm just about to order one for mine too.
Quick question, did you swap out the metal parts from the Norc stock into that Boyd's stock? From what I can tell the Boyds is just the wood, no buttpad or metal liner etc..
 
Yep, you have to swap out all the hardware,
Don't be too disappointed when you see that the Norc buttplate isn't a perfect fit, its close enough.
You might find it easier to get a new front ferrule, rather than fart around trying to fit the Norc one.

The Boyds stock definitely takes the Norc up a notch, especially if you get a nice leather sling.
Nothing better than the smell of beeswax and leather on a hot day at the range...........

Well that M14 certainly looks better on ya now, North! Wood puts warmth and soul on a rifle that ya just can't get from a black gun. I don't care if the carbon composite stocks are more convenient or more durable, I don't care if they increase accuracy...I like my guns to have charm and character.
