Got my lower put together minus the trigger today as I am waiting for up trigger to show. Didnt go too bad no launched springs or detents. A couple of minor blemishes and a very stubborn bolt release roll pin and thats where I got the minor blemishes and the pin isn't completely flush on both sides. I didnt think it went too bad for my first time.

Thanks

Ive got the wheeler version of that and it still wouldnt go so i taped up some vice grips and got it 98% of the way and ill leave it there.

For the front takedown pin i used the clevis pin trick i seen on youtube. The rear takedown has a set screw to hold it in. I got all my spring and detents on the first try. I was very happy with that as i had no extras. I still need my trigger to show up and still need the buffer tube and buffer/spring.

I never thought of electrical tape. I used some masking tape. It helped but not enough.

I used masking tape on the bold catch. Worked good, until I decided to tap twice without checking, first tap it slid off and was resting on the tape so when I gave her the second tap it drove through the tape and added a nick.
Lesson learned, go slower next time. I like the electrical tape idea.

I used a black sharpy to cover up the little aluminum glare. Don't notice it now.

The bolt catch pin is definitely tricky. I think we've all dinged a receiver at some point. If you use a roll pin starter punch, and then follow it up with the brownells tool, you'll find it much easier. Also, having the receiver on a good vice block helps too.
