The last time I killed something was Nov 29th, smallish whitetail buck at about 75 yards below and behind the ear with a 150 gr ballistic tip from a 308, the evening before two whitetail does, a little longer range close to 150 yards same load.

Last fall had no time, my son and I had gone to RSA in July and kind of got hunted out.

Today on the way home from work just around the corner from our house I spotted a young mulie buck in a canola field. I grabbed the pentax and went for a stalk, got well inside 50 yards, he knew I was there at probably 60 yards. Here are some hunting pics.

I have 4 more days till bear season opens up. I couldn't hunt spring bear because my tag was filled last fall and that season (07/08) included spring until jun30. The season closed july 1 until aug 15. Gonna get me some blackie in 4 days. Might have just enough time to reload some ammo for my new .338 Tikka T3 lite stainless that I got today. Moose is next on the menu on sept 1, and the wife gave to OK to go for a week. Gonna be a bloodbath.

You don't have to swear anything to me.
I know a guy who took down a Sambar deer last year using a Winchester 94 30-30 with the new Hornady LEVERevolution(sp?) ammo at 175yds.
Sambar are the size of an elk, wiley as all get out and renowned for their ability to disappear, a very unfortunate one for someone who wounds but does not successfully put the animal down.
He nailed it offhand at 175yds neatly dispelling the local myth that Sambar are armour plated and did it on his first Sambar hunt.
That's why hearing it from the people who've done it (which admittedly this story isn't for you guys) is great.
And for the record, I really enjoy CGN.
It's totally different to the American and Australian forums as it has heaps of info about brilliant hunting that is so different to ours, and yet is much more laid back than the US forums which are very polite but often restrictive to the point of craziness.
I like the content there but why can't I put the words "damn" or "hell" in in a post?

So yeah, I think Canadians and Australians have a lot in common, both being British colonies, although you guys didn't start out as bunch of common criminals like us. :D

Brutus, Thanks for the kind words. I love nice [don't forget accurate!] rifles, whether Centerfire or rimfire. Just had my 7-08AI 700CDL SF out today, shot three groups around ½-¾" with the 140 TSX and TTSX. Guess which rifle is going hunting this fall?!! Regards, Eagleye.

Kombi, seeing that you've asked everyone to put their mouth where there hunting is, I feel obligated to ask you to do the same. And a couple of bunnies on the hood of your truck ain't going to fill my boat buddy. Got anything bigger? I think that there are a lot of good ol'd Saskatchewan boys who don't have as big of a mouth as you do but could show you up any day or night "mate" or as we say here "pal". These good old boys will always stand far taller than you can ever hope to "PAL" EH.
Personnaly and in my humble opinion, I think that your thread is lame and self-indulgent. "Put your mouth where your hunting is?" PFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTT........is a couple of f'n bunnies all you got dude?

Well, yesterday I shot two pigeons while training English Springer Spaniels with friends. A week ago I shot several gophers from my living room window. Last fall I shot a antlerless pronghorn (Mm, Mm, good!) Almost exactly a year ago I shot 8 plainsgame animals in Namibia. I collect a small bag of pheasants, Huns and sharptails annually. Although I spend a lot of time at the range, (clay targets and paper) I consider myself mostly a game shooter. Still, I have friends who shoot more rounds at clay targets in a year than most hunters shoot in a lifetime, and I certainly listen to what they have to say.

I feel I have to point out that there are no "foreigners" on the internet. I, for one, and glad we have folks like Kombi1976 to give us insight on shooting in other lands. Although, I do suspect Kombi had a bad day at the range awhile back!:D
 
I was hoping this thread would lead into a tale of that barrel scorching Auzzie cull hunting I keep hearing about. Hasn't happened yet, but I'm still hoping. Actually I'd like to get in on some of it.
 
I'm sorry I have no stories of "barrel scorching Auzzie cull hunting" because it does happen but then like many of you I have limitations on my time and money.
If you mean kangaroos I've taken a few of them in my time but then they aren't really hunting, just spotlighting.
gitrdun, I'm not really sure what I did to piss you off but all power to your "good ol'd Saskatchewan boys".
I wish I could hunt bear and whitetails and moose.
I hope at some point to get to Nth America as a couple of members of this forum have invited me as have some American friends.
As things stand I'm about to get into deer hunting here and my last decent sized game was a wild goat which I talked about on the first page of this thread.
And I thought I spelt it out to people that no one had anything to prove.

Now, let's see if someone can misinterpret this harmless response...... ;)
