Putting a longer barrel on an 8.5 grizzly

Hey All,

Just looking for some input and know-how from the fine folks of CGN. I have an 8.5 and I'm interested in putting on a longer barrel. (I live in BC and hunting requires a 12" barrel or longer). I know that I should've just gotten the 12.5" to begin with but what can I say, I just loved the cool factor. I'm looking at buying an 18" barrel from dlask so that I can drag this puppy out for hunting. I understand that the barrel lug seems to be in the wrong position because of the shortened action/for-end. Would adding a mag extension help with this situation or would that be too unstable? Is there any way to legitimately make this work?

Yeah, sorry, that shotgun is a one-trick pony. While a barrel modification could be done, it would cost more than the gun. Just buy one of the 12" Grizzlies, that will take any barrel. I love mine!
 
The 8.5 is the most fun shotgun to plink around, at night the ball of fire is worth seeing and it is very accurate with cheap slug and for a chinese product, it is quite reliable, many friends has ordered one after trying mines but i think they are out of stock... JP.
 
You'd have to replace the mag tube with a longer/standard one. How to remove it is the 64,000 dollar question. Its probably soldered in place. Just sell it and buy a 12.5. By the way, not sure how practical these short barrels are for hunting anyway. I know with my 8.5, one shot without hearing protection on is instant hearing damage. I can only assume that the 12.5 is not much, if at all better.
 
I can say that this fall clay shooting that 8.5 gave to very good rounds, that short barrel is quite accurate to say the least... JP.
 
It doesnt belong on a clay course that is for sure but at least 3 persons asked me if they could try it, so it was ok, next time maybe i get the look for bringing a Benelli M4... JP.
 
The BC hunting regs specify that you can't hunt with a handgun. They list a handgun as anything that's designed to be fired one-handed or has a barrel of less than 12". It's dumb. It has nothing to do with the federal definition of a non-restricted. W00t BC!

I do all the time and give the guys with a 6k shotgun a f you kinda look when i out shoot them wearin cowboy boots and a tactical magfed shotgun
