I am trying to put a scope on my NEF Huntsman muzzleloader. I have mounted the weaver bases and the standard weaver rings but the hammer hits the scope bell by about 1/8". I know a set of high rings would solve my problem, but I hate high rings.
Can I heat and bend the hammer thumb spur down to clear and put on a hammer extension? If so, what would the procedure be to bend? How hot, will I wreck the finish? The action is riveted together so I would have to do it installed on the gun.
Thanks
