Looking for someone to PVD coat a rifle for me. Does anyone know of Canadian company that will PVD coat a gun?

For those unfamiliar with PVD it is an extremely durable coating process. Remington uses it on their XCR rifles but they call it TryNyte. I have a XCR compact and I cannot believe how durable the finish is, blows Cerakote out of the water.

Found a place in the states that will do it. http://www.springerprecision.com/ionbond.php

Thanks,
Clint

I did find a couple west of Toronto a few years ago but never went ahead with the project to coat Barnards. Can be a lot of issues doing this with someone that has never done a gun before especially ones as tight as Barnards, let alone their need of a PAL. You would also need to totally strip and clean the gun. Also doing inside holes they could only go about one diameter deep. Exactly which coating are you after as there are many different ones. I notice that Springer does not say what coating they use, unless I missed it at a quick look. RPA in UK does this on their actions since the plater they used was put out of business.

We have 2 coating machines where I work, we coat cutting tools used in the auto industry for high production machining. Maybe send me a PM with exactly what you need done and I'll look into it further at work for you, we offer 3 different coatings with our machines.

Why not send it to Arma-Coat in Edmonton and have it Black Nitron coated (carbo-nitrided? Nitro-carburized?)

It's tough as hell, similar to Glock's Tennifer, Remington's TriNyte and others.

There are pics of it in Arma-Coat's forum.

EDIT: After further digging, I understand that Nitron blackening isn't the same as nitro-carburizing, but likely IS the same finish that Remington uses on their XCR rifles.

Glock's Tennifer is nitro-carburizing.

Here is a contact in Canada. Balinite C is the stuff to use for a grey black colour. Look them up on the web for more info, no idea if they will/can do guns although in a download from the UK site they do list guns for coating.
