Just picked up a PWS MK111 mod 2M. Papers havent come in yet so havent had a chance to shoot it.

Build quality seems good. I really like how light it is. The BCM trigger that came with it is very nice for a stock trigger imo.
The rifle comes with raptor LT charging handle which is great cause I would of gotten a raptor CH if it didnt have one anyways.
Also liking the pic lok rail system.

Any tips, advice, info on these rifles from long time owners?

I read on an older PWS manual that a barrel break in process is needed. The manual that came with my rifle does not say this. Should I do a barrel break in process?

How tight should the receiver tension screw be set? I currently have it set so that the upper must be pushed with some force for me to remove the rear receiver pins.

Barrel break in is a myth. Clean it prior to shooting and go nuts.

Set the tension screw as tight as you feel comfortable.

Enjoy it. I have the 14.5” Sage Dynamics Edition. I am also building a Mod-2 DI custom build and plan on buying a Mk111 in the near future.

I’m a PWS fanboy

Where did you buy yours?

I've owned two of them in the past. Very well built and very reliable. My 223 had over 5000 rounds through it with zero malfunctions other than not seating the mag correctly which was my fault.

Barrel break in is not required.

My 12 inch would shoot 1 moa with Black Hills 77gr match.

Cool, thanks for the info guys.

I'm noticing that the tighter the tension screw, the more gap appears between the receivers as the screw pushes up on the upper. I've left it with a tiny gap between upper and lower. Should be fine i guess.

I got it from Al flaherty's. Aren't they the sole PWS dealer in Canada?

Have you guys been able to run XM193 or XM855 on gas setting 2? Or always on gas setting 1?

Don’t follow the gas settings religiously. Adjust the gun so it shoots soft but still reliably eject.

Many people I’ve seen use the 2nd setting for non-suppressed full power loads.

Cool. I'll give it a try.

If reliability and performance are good, this MK111 will probably turn my HK MR223 into a safe queen cause the PWS is so much lighter than the HK.

I wish it would come from the factory with an ambi bolt catch, but it only comes with ambi bolt release. I've got a magpul BAD lever on there now to address that.

I have about 500 rounds down the pipe with my PWS now and surprisingly I’m having issues.

I run the rifle on gas setting one. So the most gas available. When i shoot norinco ammo, 25% or so of the time i get double feed. 50-60% of the time my bolt wont lock open on empty.
So then I tried AE XM855. No double feeds at all, but still about 25% of the time the bolt wont lock open on empty.

The magazines i use are magpul and lancer. I ran both types of ammo in the same mags in my MR223 with no issues at all.

The rifle is not stock. I have installed a surefire warcomp, SSA-E trigger (but using the stock BCM trigger’s hammer spring), and a magpul BAD lever.

Any idea what could be the problem here?

I didnt put the rifle together so it cant be me mismatching the buffer, spring, gas system, etc.

I dont know about the Norinco 223, but I dont think XM855 is weak ammo. So not sure what could be the problem.

In this article it is mentioned that the MK109 is undergassed:

Are none of you guys experiencing any problems with any ammo?

How should I fix this issue? lighter buffer?
